April is Autism Awareness Month 💙
This is my son Aadam. He’s 6 years old, and he’s autistic.
He sees the world differently, and that difference is something truly beautiful. He finds joy in the smallest things, notices what others often miss, and reminds me every day that there isn’t just one way to experience life. Some days are harder than others. There are challenges, misunderstandings, and moments where the world doesn’t always meet him where he is. But there is also so much happiness, so much progress, and so many victories big and small that deserve to be celebrated.
Aadam is not defined by autism. He is defined by his smile, his personality, his strength, and the light he brings into my life.
But behind that light… there’s a side of our journey people don’t always see.
I’m Aadam’s mum and while this is the greatest blessing of my life, it’s also one of the hardest roles I carry.
The long, exhausting days.
The sleepless nights.
The constant advocating, explaining, worrying.
The looks in public. The silent judgments.
The moments where I feel completely alone, even in a crowded room.
I stay strong for Aadam but some days, it’s heavy.
Mothers like me are fighting quiet battles every single day. We celebrate the smallest victories that others might not notice. We carry love, patience, and strength. But we also carry emotional weight that often goes unseen.
Autism isn’t something that needs to be “fixed.” It needs to be understood, accepted, and supported.
And so do we.
This month, I’m not just raising awareness for autism. I’m asking for kindness, for compassion, for people to look beyond what they see and try to understand.
Because while Aadam is learning to navigate this world… I am too.
Different, not less ❤️
And sometimes, just being seen makes all the difference.
