CORAL SHELL

A simple motif within a minimal layout — yet no two shells are ever the same, thanks to the joyful unpredictability of wax printing.

Balance, contrast, spacing, colour placement… even the direction and thickness of each line affect how the wax behaves when marbled. It all takes time, thought and careful consideration.

I have a suitcase full of incredible fabric from my design days at A.Brunnschweiler & Company - the longest surviving manufacturers of African wax prints in the UK. The factory's no longer standing but the prints remain as bold and beautiful as ever.

Will try and share a design a day for the month of August...although consistency on social media is not my strongest 😊

Let's start with RAINY DAY or perhaps PENNINE DRIZZLE would be more apt ☔☔☔

I found this dress a couple of years ago whilst sorting through my mum's fabric stash.

My sister and I had one each, handmade by my mum...still love this dress 40+ years later!

This Peacock Feather design was printed at CPA Zaire, early 1970's...a timeless treasure 🦚🦚🦚
