Today is launch day!

My latest Blackwork embroidery design 'Sturgeon Moon' - part 8 of my 2026 'Lunar Collection' - is now available in my etsy shop. www.midgeporterdesign.etsy.com

Celebrate each full moon of the year with a blackwork embroidery design that has been inspired by ancient Pagan and traditional themes. 12 designs will be released throughout the year,in time for each full moon.

August is called the ‘Sturgeon Moon’ marking the traditional time for catching giant sturgeon fish. Other names include ‘Grain Moon’ and ‘Lynx Moon’. This design includes elements of swirling sturgeon and swaying wheat and barley, waiting to be made into loaves made from the harvested grain. Loaves and fishes – abundance to be enjoyed in the lazy late summer days.

This design for Blackwork embroidery is stitched on evenweave fabric to allow finer detail created by half stitches.

TWO KIT OPTIONS: stitch using traditional black on ecru fabric OR stitch with one of my unique hand-dyed variegated threads on a contrast coloured background. You can also buy the digital PDF download.

The countdown has nearly ended...

The 8th design in my blackwork embroidery series - the 'Lunar Collection' - will be released on the 28th August 2026, in time for the August Full Moon.

BONUS: Each kit will be released alongside a hand dyed skein of embroidery thread - each month will be different.

Sitting down and properly working out my wholesale and RRP as it's been a while. Scary!

Question for all you wonderful fellow creatives...

How do you price handmade quality textile products against the reality of what people are willing to pay? I’d be really interested in folks thoughts on this. The standard formula probably is not realistic for me. Thank you :)
