23rd of June is Midsummer's Eve or the Eve of St John.
All over Europe you will find celebrations including bonfires tonight.
People would decorate their houses with flowers and swags of ivy and convulvulous. Thyme and rosemary are Fairy plants, so in your garden these welcome the Fairy folk and some sprigs in your house make your home welcoming to helpful spirits too.
St John's Wort is particularly potent around this time, so gather the flowers and steep them in oil to make a protective potion you can use all the year around. St John's Wort can be used to banish all evil, curses and nasty entities.

22nd of June is the Festival of Household Spirits and Fairies.
There are several fairy clans who choose to share human homes, even if they are largely unseen or ignored these days.
Brownies and Hobs are perhaps the best known, but there is also the Bwbachod in Wales and the Irish Bean-Tigh (Fairy Woman of the House).
All household fairies can grow very protective of their families and will attempt to scare off any intruders or anyone they feel is a threat or danger to the household.
Today is also the feast of a very ancient spirit or Goddess, Gruagach, The Maiden With Long Hair. She is the ancient Goddess of Midsummer and offerings of milk, cream and porridge with honey was left for her in the hollow of a stone out of doors.
This may be the purpose of stones found with 'cup and ring' markings, places for offerings to be left. These days you could leave a saucer outside with your offering in it.

21st of June Happy Summer Solstice, Litha, Aban Heriun.
Today is also Father's Day in the UK, which is appropriate as today is the feast of the Dagda, whose name means 'Daddy' and to all other deities known as Father, eg Odin, Ra, Zeus and Jupiter.
Today is also the festival of Ceridwen and her magical cauldron, today is a fab day for any kind of magic - it is said that any spells cast today will be particularly powerful.
Today is also sacred to Aine Clair, Aine the Bright, Queen of the Fairies.
The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, in the Northern Hemisphere, in Hull the sun rose at 4.31 BST and will set tonight at 9.36 pm.

20th of June is Solstice Eve this year (the Summer Solstice can vary by a day or so).
So if you want to watch the sunrise tomorrow morning, now is the time to find out when this will happen in your area.
Today is also the feast of Summanus, the god of Nocturnal Thunder. He is the dark chthonic face of Jupiter and was at one time the more powerful deity. Offerings to Summanus include milk and honey and special round yellow cakes marked like wheels.
I must admit I love a good thunderstorm and I don't mind whether it is day or night.
My granny however was terrified by thunder and used to hide in the cupboard under her stairs with a pan on her head - heaven known what good she thought the pan would do!

19th of June is World Sauntering Day.
This encourages folks to stop rushing from place to place and just slow down and enjoy the journey.
Sauntering was the way in which pilgrims passed along their route and the word is said to have appeared because of people asking the travellers where they were going. The travellers replied 'A la sainte terre.' which means 'To the Holy Land'. These travellers then became known as 'sainte-terrers' or 'saunterers'.
Going on a pilgrimage is not just about reaching your destination, it is about the journey itself, the discussions with fellow travellers, the places you pass through, the scenery and the feelings these all engender.
All of these increase the anticipation, and the sense of achievement and the significance both of the journey and the arrival.
Take the time to stop and look around you.
There is so much beauty and wonder in the world, if only you stop and take the time to have a look at it.

18th of June Is the feast of Danu, the Celtic Earth Goddess. She is also known as Dana, Anu, Annie, Anna and also Annis.
Danu was the Goddess of the Irish Fairy Folk, the Tuatha de Danaan, and is the goddess of the very Earth we live on. In Ireland are two hills known as the Paps of Anu, which imagine the Earth Goddess laid on her back with her breasts rising up.
Anu is a goddess of wisdom and knowledge, a wise teacher who can also give wealth and abundance.

17th of June is St Botolf or St Botwulf of Thorney.
This is a bit of an obscure 7th century British saint but as I come from Lincolnshire I have a bit of a soft spot for him.
St Botolph is the patron saint of travellers and farmers and has one famous (well to Lincolnshire folk) church, Boston Stump, so called because it has no spires and therefore looks a bit stumpy.
Boston was originally named Botolphston, (Botolph's Town) and Boston Stump is the church of St Botolph.
Boston is also famous as being one of the ports where passengers set out for the New World of America, so quite appropriate that St Botolph would give his blessing to travellers who would make a living farming in the New World.

16th of June is the ancient Egyptian festival the Night of the Teardrop.
This festival remembers the murder of Osiris by his brother Set and the way Isis flew over Osiris' body in the form of a sparrowhawk. She desperately tried to fan life back into his body with her wings and as she flew her tear fell and started the Nile inundation.

15th of June New Moon today at 3.54 am which means we are in the middle of the Dark of the Moon, the time of the Dark Mother, Queen of the Underworld.
It will be a couple of days before the thin sliver of the bright Waxing Moon will be seen.
Prayer to the New Moon
In the name of the Three who shield us in every need,
If well thou hast found us tonight,
Seven times better mayest thou leave us without harm,
Thou Bright White Moon of the Seasons,
Bright White Moon of the Seasons.

14th 0f June is the feast of Vidar.
Vidar is the silent son of Odin, who will have a great part to play in Ragnarok, the end of time.
Ragnarok is a strange concept because it is yet to come, but also has already happened, perhaps showing the strange behaviour of time in the spirit realms.
At Ragnarok, Fenrir, the Wolf, will devour all the gods including Odin. As he swallows the Sun Goddess, she will immediately give birth to her daughter, the Sun of the new cycle.
Vidar will then use his mighty boot to kick Fenrir in the mouth and kill the Wolf and bring the new Universe into being.
Vidar's mighty boots are constructed from many layers of leather, so today we can aid Vidar by burying scraps of leather which he will use to reinforce his boots, ready for the battle and gain Vidar's blessing too.
