Here are the options:

1. Block of the month.....make 12 blocks to make a quilt.

2. Basic square cushion cover

3. Lap/cot quilt

4. Puff patchwork

5. Appliqué pictures

6. Table runner

Is anyone interested and if so which option?

Aggression is not acceptable!

I don't normally have a moan, but when someone is rude, aggressive or disrespectful, I will have to say something, especially when it's aimed at Mum! I try to see the best in everyone, ( got me into trouble at times!), but yesterday was not ok.

To the man who didn’t listen and was rude....I'd listened to you on the phone, followed your request and prepared a bag ready of bondaweb and double sided hemming tape for you to pick up. Mum demonstrated how to use it too!

For the lady complaining that she could buy it cheaper elsewhere, rather than having a quality alteration done by an expert.....that's fine. If it's not to your budget, or you think you can find it cheaper elsewhere...then please go elsewhere.

We are known for our quality, service and product, caring nature, and ability to perform a wide range of sewing services. That takes skill, a caring nature and it costs money. We need to be paid for the years of experience, knowledge and understanding that we bring to the shop everyday. It's only fair that we can cover our costs and get paid too!

What we don't bring is rudeness and Aggression, so we don't expect you to either.

So if you are having a bad day....and we all have bad days.....don't take it out on us, and definitely don't take it out on my Mum! She does NOT deserve it. How you behave affects other people...the affects can last long after you have forgotten your bad behaviour 😪

Yesterday was momentus for me!

I made an important discovery...saying YES to the things I love, want to do, enjoy, interests me.....makes my heart sing! I know that sounds a bit WooWoo! But it's true.

I bought myself a workshop on Natural Dyeing.....learning how to take plants and change the colour of wool and how to recreate this too at home.

Emmy from Yorkshire Wild Wool showed a small group of ladies how interesting and creative you can be using natural ingredients.

We used nettles, heather ( my namesake!!!), feverfew and woad, all of which grew in her garden or near by. We also used Log Wood too.

Learning how to prepare the wool, why, how different additives change the result, PH levels, temperatures, oxygen, yes the very air that we breathe....all make a difference to the end result.

We laughed, we talked, we explored, we created magic....like a witch 🧙‍♂️.

What a wonderful way to inspire creativity, a sense of amazement and curiosity....

Here's the results using 3 different yarns, all dyed together, then treated differently.

In a word.....Fascinating!

I can't wait to try at home, then use the end product to create something new!

A great big thank you Emmy!

If you want to fuel your curiosity with an incredible teacher, then this is worth doing. I'd highly recommend you give it a go.

Some days are a neat-and-tidy, one-sewing-machine-sort-of-day…

…and other days are most definitely NOT! 😂🧵

When we make or shorten curtains, we can use three different machines:k

🪡 1. Blind hemmer – for those lovely neat hems in the outer fabric.

🧵 2. Sewing machine – for the lining and joining the lining to the outer fabric.

✂️ 3. Overlocker – to neaten all those seams.

And that’s before we even mention the hand-sewing needed to get those corners looking just right!

Then comes the pressing… and the folding… and, finally, the moment when everything looks beautifully finished. 😍

Last week was definitely a three-machine kind of week! We needed all the space we could get to handle some of those heavier, bulkier curtains.

So, if you walk into the workshop and think, “Blimey, what happened here?”…

Don’t worry. 😂

It’s not messy. It’s productive!

Every bit of that fabric, every machine and every pile has a job to do.

And sometimes, when we’re busy making beautiful things, tidy just has to wait! 🧵💕
