Yesterday was momentus for me!
I made an important discovery...saying YES to the things I love, want to do, enjoy, interests me.....makes my heart sing! I know that sounds a bit WooWoo! But it's true.
I bought myself a workshop on Natural Dyeing.....learning how to take plants and change the colour of wool and how to recreate this too at home.
Emmy from Yorkshire Wild Wool showed a small group of ladies how interesting and creative you can be using natural ingredients.
We used nettles, heather ( my namesake!!!), feverfew and woad, all of which grew in her garden or near by. We also used Log Wood too.
Learning how to prepare the wool, why, how different additives change the result, PH levels, temperatures, oxygen, yes the very air that we breathe....all make a difference to the end result.
We laughed, we talked, we explored, we created magic....like a witch 🧙♂️.
What a wonderful way to inspire creativity, a sense of amazement and curiosity....
Here's the results using 3 different yarns, all dyed together, then treated differently.
In a word.....Fascinating!
I can't wait to try at home, then use the end product to create something new!
A great big thank you Emmy!
If you want to fuel your curiosity with an incredible teacher, then this is worth doing. I'd highly recommend you give it a go.
