If humans, as a self-aware, sentient and morally-guided species were to have a common goal, it should surely be to reduce worldwide suffering. The Anticarnist was formed to highlight how corporations, institutions and entire cultures have systematically created the denial necessary for otherwise compassionate people to justify the inexcusable. The imprisonment, slavery, torture and murder of those

who happen to be of a different species to ourselves occurs on a colossal scale in the name of greed and those that oppose it are in the overwhelming minority. Only by spreading the lost concepts of empathy, love and truth can we help others understand that the bacon on their plates once had a personality and a life just as valid as their pet dog's.

Veganism isn't the belief that it's possible to live without causing any harm whatsoever. It's about avoiding harm, exploitation and use of animals wherever we can. The fact that perfect ethical purity is impossible doesn't mean ethics are meaningless.

We can't avoid every form of harm caused by modern society, but we can avoid paying for animals to be bred to be slaughtered for food, clothing and entertainment. In the same way, someone can't eliminate all human suffering from their supply chain, but that doesn't mean they should stop caring about slavery or human rights altogether.

If your argument is that veganism isn't valid because it's impossible to avoid all animal exploitation, then the same logic would invalidate every single ethical principle. The impossibility of being perfect has never been a good reason not to be better.

Veganism is more than a diet. It's the baseline moral obligation not to exploit animals when we don't have to.

Some people talk about compassion as if it's a flaw. Like caring deeply about what happens to animals is something excessive or irrational.

Although, it doesn't take compassion to avoid exploiting someone, that's just basic moral decency. After all, we don't praise people for not harming others when they don't have to. We simply expect it of them.

Compassion is something different. It's what makes us care that exploitation is happening in the first place and it's what stops us looking away. It allows the suffering of others to matter to us, even when they're not our own species. The idea for this design came from that thought.

If compassion is enough to make someone appear extreme in a world built on animal exploitation, perhaps the problem isn't compassion.
