There are dozens of ways one can make a chrysanthemum flower, but whichever method you choose, you will be expected to recreate rows and rows of petals. This is the nature of this flower and this is what makes it so popular.

Together we have tried and tested a number of different methods of making this favourite autumnal bloom. Yet, there are some others thars are waiting to be discovered.

Chrysanthemum is by no means a new flower to us. Yet, the abstract geometry of the chrysanthemum flower makes it ideal for experimentation. Whether you choose to experiment with material, size or colour, a great result is always guaranteed.
This year we are revisting the stunning seasonal flower in order to add a couple of new methods of making it to our ever growing flower skill library.
To keep everyone engaged, the first method is completely tool-free (okay, you might need a pair of tweezers😊 ). Although a bit time consuming as it is always the case with chrysanthemums, the method is great because it works with both fabrics and leather (see the cover of the demo).
The second method is more complicated because it involves tools, hand dyed silk (optional) and more time and skill. Yet the result is a more subtle, more realistic flower.
I have been testing 2 different tools for this method to see which one I like best. This tube making tool (the Japanese style) is available in my shop, in case you'd like to have one.
The demonstration is taking place on 31 August 2026 (Monday) at 4 pm London time. In case you are unable to attend the live demo, a full recording of the session will be availble for you forevermore.
