The older I get, the more I realise that life isn't a competition.

There is enough room for everyone to succeed. Enough customers, enough opportunities, enough happiness, enough wins.

Cheering someone on doesn't take anything away from you.
Supporting someone else's dream doesn't stop yours from coming true.
Being kind costs nothing, but it can mean everything to the person receiving it.

In a world that can sometimes feel full of comparison, choose encouragement.
In a world that tells us to compete, choose community.
In a world where it's easy to criticise, choose kindness.

You never know what someone is carrying behind the scenes. A kind word, a share, a recommendation, a message of support or simply being happy for someone else's success can make more difference than you'll ever know.

Be the reason someone keeps going.
Be the reason someone believes in themselves.
Be the reason someone shines a little brighter today.

This is my day made.

To most people, this probably looks like a scruffy little note on a well-loved dragon.

To me, it's everything.

My 13-year-old autistic son will do absolutely everything in his power to avoid writing. If there's a way around putting pen to paper, he'll find it. The fear of making mistakes, getting something wrong, or it not being perfect is just too overwhelming.

He's never written me notes. Never left me little messages. Most cards get a quick name written and that's about it.

So when I was making his bed today and found this note attached to his dragon saying not to touch it because it needed fixing, I honestly could have cried.

This dragon is one of his most treasured possessions. He's incredibly protective of it. Usually, he wouldn't tell me if something was wrong with it. He'd carry the worry himself.

But today he communicated it.

Not in a conversation. Not with a big breakthrough moment. Just with a tiny handwritten note.

And that's the thing about parenting a child with additional needs...

The victories don't always look like the ones people expect.

Sometimes they aren't certificates, grades, trophies or big milestones.

Sometimes they're a few shaky words on a torn piece of paper.

And those moments can mean absolutely everything.

I know this might sound ridiculous to some people whose children have been writing notes since they were little, but I know many parents of children with disabilities will understand exactly why I'm so excited.

The smallest wins often carry the biggest meaning.

There's something really special about becoming Andy's Mom.

For years we watched Toy Story through little eyes, singing the songs, learning the characters and hearing "To infinity and beyond" more times than we can count. Now we're getting ready to make even more memories as we take our little ones to see Toy Story 5.

Because one day they'll outgrow the toys, but they'll never outgrow the memories.

Before I had children, I had a lot of opinions...

Now I'm just trying to remember what day it is, where the school shoes are and whether anyone has eaten a vegetable this week.

Parenting is messy. It's chaotic. It's exhausting.
But somehow, between the forgotten water bottles, the endless washing and the snack negotiations, we're raising tiny humans and doing the best we can.
