We love sustainability!

All of the packing is recycled where possible, it is something that has been used in an order myself, or somebody else has received in the past then used again to carefully package up your products. I save all my packaging to use again in a bid cut back on waste and look after the planet.

Orders are also available on collection. I am based in Nottingham.

Hello and welcome to my new Instagram account @ designs_by_layla_and_ruby :)
My name is Layla and I am the face behind Layla & Ruby.

I have started over and made a brand new fresh professional Instagram account as I was locked out of my other one.
This one even has a shop so I will be gradually adding products for you to purchase which I hope you will love.

So what am I about? Let me introduce myself a little.

I am a recent Dec Arts graduate class of 2021. A mum of a young boy and a great lover of pets, adventure and music. I just love to dance and explore!
With a great passion for the performance industry & costumes. I love colour! Things that grab your attention and go wow! The beautiful, the weird and the wonderful. With years of experience gaining skills - I am a designer maker working with different materials. I specialise in metalwork - costume - fire & pyrotechnics props & hair accessories.

Where did the name Layla&Ruby come from?
Layla is obviously my name and Ruby is a twist on my sons name, Ruben. Not to mention my favourite colour red!
Together is a perfect combo

With summer solstice only just yesterday I want to wish belated SOLSTICE GREETINGS to you all. 🌞 The weather has been just glorious!

Art deco style statement necklace.

I made this while in year 2 of university for a project based on Nottingham Architecture. I focused my research on the Council House, which is where my inspiration came from for the shape and colours.
This necklace is made with 3 layers. Blue leather is sandwiched between two layers of copper, the top layer is enamelled in a deep blue colour and they are all held together with rivets..
The collar is real leather with a lovely soft backing which feels nice against the skin.
All leather is recycled.

This item atm is unique. Handmade with pure love and attention to detail.

I will be making a range of jewellery in this style in variations of materials, sizes and colours very soon. :)
