Sew Serendipitous Bag Design I sew unique items using a variety of beautiful fabrics. You will see on this page that I’m presently designing and crafting a number of items in Japanese Silk.

I have decided to concentrate on this range of bags because of the nature of this wonderful rich material. Kimono silk is produced in bolts which are only 14” wide – as you can imagine this can be restrictive when designing handbags. So, I decided that I would make evening / prom / party bags and pouches, which best suit this material, and also use the silk to line and enhance wool bags. The Japan

ese silk I purchase is usually sold in small length quantities and invariably one bag, lined in the same material, uses all the material available. If I am lucky enough to purchase the silk in meters, unusual as it may be, I will not describe the bag as ‘unique’ but explain that other items will be made out of that material. All of the Japanese silk I purchase is vintage material – this makes it no less expensive to purchase but does mean the designs are no longer in use. Consequently, when I say there is no more of any type of material, that means anywhere. These vintage bolts of materials can be up to 90-years old but the oldest I’ve worked with to date is 60-years old. I do, of course, design and make other types of handbags – sometimes using wool mixed with the Japanese silk and other times using oilcloth. Over the next few months some of these will also be available for sale. Should you see a bag you like but would prefer a different material, just email me at [email protected] and I will get back to you with some ideas and a price. For instance, if you would like a handbag for a wedding, (Mother of the Bride). Perhaps you would like something specific for the Bridesmaids or even the Bride, either to match dresses or to contrast with it. I hope you've had as productive a day as I have - the other half has turned into an insomniac so I'm getting out of bed much earlier!

So all the washing is washed and dried (not ironed - that's my least favourite job and Mr Bee always does his own 🥳) The rain has stayed way and the sun is shining.

I've also completed another bag using the black Harris Tweed that I embroidered with flowers. I really 💜 this bag...

It's a shoulder bag which has a zipper closure and a zipper pocket inside.

Measurements are approximately 10" wide x 9.5" tall x 4" deep

Hello all. I’m still finishing the bottom of the 🐝 stool - I keep getting interrupted…

Yesterday evening Ava arrived to come spend today with me. 🧡 So, I got my steps in early today by walking the little darling for 5-miles and then we took 2 busses to get home for lunch. We’re both exhausted ☺️

Wow so many blackberries this year and they’re very very sweet, but minuscule- so I left them for the birds, I’d have been there all day picking them!

Some pics for you plus the beginning of a cork crossbody bag - trying to find a way to incorporate the beautiful cork limited edition insets. What do you think?

Me again… I’ve not quite finished the 🐝 footstool - still need to hammer the tacks into the base. However, as I won’t have time to do that today and I’m out tomorrow, I thought I’d show you all as close to the finished product as I can get!

I 🧡 how she’s turned out but can’t make my mind up as to whether to paint the legs black or leave them light. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The beautiful sunshine today encouraged me to stitch out some flowers. This will be the front of a tote bag once completed. I hope you like!

The Bee Border is complete and I’m thrilled with it. Now to put it all together to fit the stool tomorrow - after a good nights sleep 💤

I think I need to start building an ark the amount of rain we’ve had today 🤣🤣 love it, so does our garden 🪴

Yesterday you saw the bee for the stool seat - today I’m embroidering the boarder for the sides.

Can’t wait for this one to be completed!
