Well said 🙌🙌🙌
I’ve kept this in for a long time. But I can’t do that any more.
I’ve shared an essay over on Love My Dress that expresses some very honest feelings.
I love my job. I love weddings. I LOVE Love My Dress.
But I’m feeling increasingly disconnected from the world of wedding media. What once felt magical now feels like a sea of incredible artistry, cutting-edge photography, trends and must-haves. And while much of it is inspiring, the sheer volume and noise has become deafening.
The line between inspiration and aspiration has blurred. Content feels less relevant and more unrealistic. The endless “best of” lists and highly curated feeds designed to educate and inspire professional photographers make every couple, as gorgeous as they are, look like runway models. And while the artistry is undeniable, the wider wedding media industry has started to feel less like magic and more like a marketing machine.
It is exhausting. I am exhausted. And I know my audience and professional friends feel the same, because they are telling me so.
I acknowledge that I am a part of this but from today on I’m course correcting, because none of this represents weddings and what I do authentically, honestly or truthfully.
This is a long read. A personal one. And it might not be comfortable for everyone. But it feels right to say this now.
Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully, understand.
My sincere love to you all,
A 💕
