🍂 Feeling the autumnal vibes already in the Bobbin Box workshop… 🍂

💕 I’ve been having a little rummage through my fabric stash today and rediscovered some gorgeous pieces that have been waiting patiently for their moment! ( There’s more but could only fit so much on my table 😂)

🪡 From duvet cover to beautiful curtains… 🪡

I was recently asked by a lovely lady in her mid-80s if I could turn her duvet cover into a pair of curtains 💕

She had been trying to find either fabric to match her duvet cover or ready-made curtains that would coordinate with it, but just couldn’t find the right thing — so she wondered if I could work some sewing magic!

Of course, I was happy to give it a go. ✂️🧵

The duvet cover wasn’t quite wide enough to give the curtains all the fullness she originally wanted, so I had to carefully work with the fabric I had & make the most of every inch.

I think the finished curtains have turned out beautifully, most importantly, she now has curtains that perfectly coordinate with her existing duvet cover rather than having to replace everything.

As always, none of my sewing gets done without the very important supervision of Milo 🐕😂 — you can see him keeping a very close eye on proceedings in the background!

I love projects like this — taking something that isn’t quite working then turning it into something completely bespoke & personal for her.

I’ve had a bit of a whirlwind the last couple of weeks, so I’m just catching up properly now…. 

I absolutely love receiving photos from happy customers! 😊

These bespoke dinette cushions were made for a beautiful canal boat, complete with concealed zips & piped edging for a smart, professional finish. The seating quickly converts into a comfortable bed for any guests and I’m so pleased to hear the feedback:

“First time we’ve set it up as a bed, just so you can see what it looks like. Absolutely perfect 👍🏻.”

Alongside the cushions, I also made the bespoke thermal blackout curtains throughout the boat, creating a cosy lighter living space.

🧵 Sew …. Had a few projects going on over the last couple of weeks, starting from the most recently completed!

Remember the stripy outdoor seating canal boat cushions? These have been given a full makeover and I fitted them for a lovely lady last night. I’m so happy with how they’ve turned out 👌🏻✨

💕 Made some patchwork cushions for my little caravan from beautiful embroidered scraps of fabric and I absolutely love them. They look so cute! 🥰

🏠 Made some patchwork cushions from leftover fabric swatches/sample pieces for my hosts at the farmhouse where we stayed, as a little thank you. The patchwork was a little off on one in particular, my machine jammed and the needle broke, so I switched machines — there’s a story to be remembered with that one! 🪡😄

💖 My beautiful Niece turns 13 at the end of this month, I cannot believe how quickly the years are flying by! Made her a western style fabric cushion for her bedroom along with a wash bag / make up bag makeover for when she has sleepovers at her friends, absolutely love howthese have turned out 😍🎁

I’ve got a few more recent projects to share, but I’m going to be unavailable for the next few days while I take a little time away. I’ll be back as soon as I can and respond to any messages as soon as I’m back home on my feet, i’m look forward to getting back to my sewing and creating very soon along with a couple of customer orders already pending my return 💕🧵✨

✨ Project Complete ✨

A little project completed today! 💕

I took a couple of pieces of fabric & a funky matching fuchsia zip & a plain wash bag & gave it a complete makeover with beautiful tweed on the back coordinating fabrics, a real wooden toggle fastening, a leatherette detachable keyring, my Bobbin Box Creations label & lots of carefully stitched finishing touches. It’s amazing what a bit of creativity & attention to detail can do. I absolutely love how unique it’s become, and I can’t wait to gift it to my niece. ❤️🪡

A couple of quick little projects this morning…

My niece turns 13 in just two weeks – how is she 13 already?! 🥹💕

I’m making her a 16” zipped cushion cover with a hollow fibre insert for her bedroom, and I’m also transforming this cute little lined bag into a wash bag. It’s already lined with waterproof fabric, making it perfect for toiletries, make-up or sleepovers with all her friends. 🤩
These are the first pieces in my new West Style Collection, with lots more designs to come!

These are made to order, and I already have a little waiting list in place, so please bear with me if you’d like something similar — I’ll be working through orders as soon as I can.

🪡 Amongst all the other jobs, I couldn’t resist taking a little sewing break by making myself a pretty floral skirt

Anything to help keep a bit cooler while working as it’s a whopping 32°C+ in the workshop today! 🥵☀️

I whipped this up in no time at all with an elasticated waist with front & back darts for a flattering fit. Sometimes the best sewing projects are the ones you make for yourself 💜

💖 This beautiful prom dress headed off to its special night last night ✨

I altered the hem and lining at the front, grading it into the side seams to keep the mermaid shape looking perfect. I also altered the corset by removing some of the side boning and taking it in for a better fit, then to finish, steamed it to get it looking perfect 👌🏻
