This is a slightly different style to my usual, but I was delighted to again be part of the show + sew team and receive a copy of the new Willow top pattern by , currently on the final day of its release sale.

My wife was especially excited about this top, so I ended up making ones for both of us. I made a straight size E for myself with the paperbag elasticated neckline and long princess sleeves, and my wife has a graded B-D with a drawstring neckline and the short sleeves without elastic in the cuff. Both are made from viscose.

This is an intermediate level pattern and it was such a satisfying garment to make with the fully enclosed bodice and multiple burrito turns. I really appreciated the advice for how to tack and try on after doing all of the back elastic - the pattern comes with a lot of fitting and alteration advice which is worth taking the time to go through. It's definitely a slower, more careful sew, but the payoff is wonderful. This sort of style in shops has always seemed too flimsy for me to enjoy wearing, but with the full lining and the shaped elastic channels rather than shirring this really is a beautifully sturdy shirt as well as being gorgeous to look at! I'll certainly be making more versions.

Leaf drop!

I've just added some new individually sized leaf mats to my Folksy shop (link in comments). They have a waxed cotton underside so are perfect for picnics on damp grass! Top sides are quilting cotton and there is an inner layer of polyester wadding for comfort. They can be rolled and folded for easy carrying.

Please always ask if you'd like a different leaf species/colour/size! And if you're around Oxford, ask me about free bike delivery 😁

I can't wait until it's warm enough in England to wear this pigeon dress again! It's got an integrated bra and it's really comfy. And pockets, of course!

I haven't shown a panel dress in a while! These come in both child and adult sizes, with deep side pockets. It's a real grow-with-me pattern for children - it looks great all the way from oversized to nearly grown out of and worn more as a tunic top. And the wide sleeves make it easy to add layers underneath.

I nearly went with a safe navy for the contrast solid on this dress, but then decided to do something different and honestly Tiny Dragon looks so grown up in it!

The April prompt for the Storytellers was "Embellish" and I immediately thought of embroidery, but wanted to do something a little bit different! I'd seen mini embroidery hoops before and thought making some embroidered necklaces would be really fun.

The motifs are from the Christmas collection I was kindly gifted for the Storyteller project - as these cover both the north and south hemispheres there are plenty of motifs that stand alone (although I'll definitely be making seasonal ones next Christmas!). I'm especially happy with the bird, which I coloured to be a blue tit. I want to do more British garden birds next!

(If you have been paying close attention you will realise it's not still April. I did the embroidery then but have been waiting for all the jewellery bits I needed to arrive, then a separate lot of waiting because I actually needed larger jump rings... you get the picture.)

An embroidered bunny I added to my wife's favourite casual jacket as one of her birthday presents 😊

The embroidery pattern is from - I love how the directionality in the fur really brings the rabbit to life!

This is the final set of swimwear I made myself, and turned out to be my favourite look! It's a two part set with very high waisted ruched briefs and a top with a deep band. Because all the parts are fully lined it's a very firm, supportive fit.

I used the same glitter rainbow fabric as the contrast colour on Tiny Dragon's swimwear (on neckbands etc), and which I had been eyeing up ever since!

Bikini! Aaaaaand... it has pockets! 😁 Just the right size for keys, or a bank card, or a million shells your small child picked up. Honestly I hadn't considered pockets in swim pants until I saw this pattern from but I immediately realised I needed them.

(Tiny Dragon demands pockets next time she gets new swimwear, and PROMISES she won't fill them with sand...)

Tank top with integrated shelf bra in this beautiful cotton jersey Hobbit fabric.

You're going to continue seeing holiday photos for a while, my longsuffering wife was badgered to take photos of ALL my outfits 😆 This was taken outside the pottery studio of a BVI artist who is genuinely called Aragorn. Yes, I knew this when getting dressed for the day 😉

My culottes made from my Little Frog woven baby wrap continue to go with literally everything, I love them so much.

I've been very quiet since getting back from holiday, as I had to immediately dive into my LARP commissions. This is one of them! A reversable pinafore to cover my customer's characters in two different systems. It's all in lovely drapy viscose and is *so* swishy.

The pattern is the ginko pinafore from and when I made it reversable I burrito-rolled the whole thing to enclose as many seams as possible. The hems are separate to allow more swish and so the split-colour skirt is also French seamed.
