Feeling super lucky to have TWO super rare early archival Laura Ashely simple shift dresses in the shop! Made in 1966 at the original Carno factory. These prints would have been completed using hand screen printing rather than the later machine printing done later into the 1970s as the company grew. These were the earliest pieces made by Laura Ashley in the ‘Pre-Prairie’ Era, along with garden smocks, tea towels and scarves. The green is one of the earliest floral prints designed by Laura Ashley in 1964, named ‘Daisy D94’, and then made into 4 panel shift dresses in to 1966. The green is even in the Laura Ashley archival book (pic sent to me by my wonderful fellow vintage nerd friend Nicola Daisy Rain Vintage ❤️), and it was part of the 60th Anniversary exhibition at the Bath Museum (swipe to see pics). I’ve yet to find the stripe print (any LA experts feel free to educate me), but it’s got the best deck chair vibes and absolutely beautiful natural wear and fade from decades of love! It’s the softest cotton you’ve ever felt! Which one is your favourite?

Part One of restoring some beautiful vintage bridal gowns. One 1930s silk velvet that had been washed by a previous owner without removing the old metal buttons, leaving it with horrendous rust staining on the cuffs and button back. The other is an early 1940s Satin with the most gorgeous cut out bow detailing. This one has some yellowed staining and some tearing to one side of the skirt. So come along with me on the first stage of the restoration…washing!
And yes…a big house spider walked down my face at 2am and acres me out of my skin, so I ended up doing more work as staying in bed was not an option! (Yes, I am a massive wuss)

Humpday shop views ❤️ Here all week with new pieces trickling in day to day. I’m working on restoring some antique wedding gowns over the next few evenings, so I’ll be sure to make some cleaning and restoration videos for you. I have some new cleaning products to try, which I know is sad, but I find it very exciting! Wish me luck.

One of the most iconic pieces I’ve had in a while, and I’ve had a few recently! 🖤 Original RARE heavy gold tone brass mesh ‘Whiting & Davis’ open back halter top. Studio 54 glamour all day long! Original damaged leather straps have been sympathetically replaced with new genuine gold leather ones, so it’s in perfect as new condition. No scratches or tarnishing to the fabric. Its perfect. The left is an incredible two piece mini dress and jacket combo, the right is a rare early Laura Ashley, made in Wales floral cotton mini, with a 1950s/60s zip back sequin top that I’ve turned around and styled open as a waistcoat. Two lovely 1950s Mens plaid wool ‘CPO’ overshirts. Both made in the USA. 100% wool. ‘5 Brothers’ Buffalo Plaid with swallow tail collar & ‘Packer Land’ Wisconsin with original ships anchor buttons. Both in lovely condition for their age and perfect as a throw over piece. Now available in the shop.

I’m back! 🖤 After a few days out of the shop for some very important emergency family time, I’m back and straight to filling up the shop again after a very busy July. The first drop is Antique Victorian cotton gowns, Edwardian petticoats and a few other bits and bobs, like this 1970s Hand embroidered cheesecloth Mexican blouse. I’ve got some great pieces to show you, and LOTS more coming in as I work through washing it all, and get it to tip top condition. New Antique pieces now in the shop, and coming online as soon as I grow more arms or clone myself a helper. Stay tuned folks.
