We're always looking to expand on the range of skills we teach here at CSSC, and Chloe has come up with yet another brilliant course, exploring another heritage embroidery technique to add to your repertoire. Stumpwork has its roots in historic embroidery practices and is used to build raised, sculptural elements that add depth, structure and movement to textile work. It's especially effective for florals, leaves and insects, where raised forms help bring natural subjects to life.

Calico Garments Project

As you are aware, SCC is working on Calico Dress #10. It is our intention to make this a collaborative project involving our own members only and then, at our 2027 exhibition, to invite contribution from visitors to the theatre.

This project is our own and not part of any initiative from SST.

These are the completed “puffs” to
date. Aren’t they just gorgeous!

We would like to say a heartfelt thank
you to all of the contributors including two members who have each stitched TWO roundels! No pressure folks 🙂

AGM Saturday 9th May 2026

We will hold our usual informal stitching session from 12pm before the AGM at 2pm.

The AGM agenda has been sent via email to all members.

If you have any questions for the committee then please do get in touch with Ali Currie ([email protected]), or another member of committee as soon as possible please.

We intend to keep the formal AGM to a “short and sharp” format. All members were voted into their roles last year and continue in place. The only change is Ali stepping down from the role of Chair and Susan Cooney taking over.

We plan to celebrate our fifth birthday with tea and cake after the AGM. Do come to help us to celebrate!

While we are munching the cake, some members will regale us with tales of their recent stitching activities. Our thanks go to our “volunteer” members who have agreed to give these “Textile Tales”.

Domestic Dusters Project
Please remember that this will be the last opportunity to add your own duster to the national project. Caron plans to send them off after the AGM.

We look forward to see as many of you as possible next weekend.
