Portrush parkrun

Portrush parkrun Portrush parkrun is a FREE weekly 5KM event for runners of all standards. Every Saturday morning at 09:30 at East Strand Beach Portrush BT56 8AD.

Started 8th September 2012. Weekly forecast: https://portrushpark.run/ parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful beach setting and

get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun at www.parkrun.com and print off your barcode. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there! After the run, if you don’t have to get off straight away, there will be the chance to socialise with everyone at 55 Degrees North Cafe or Arcadia Beach Cafe, who both offer a discount to all parkrunners; to maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other runners over a cup of tea or coffee and just be an important part of this new running community. So whether you are a complete novice looking to get yourself started on your own "running journey" or a seasoned athlete wanting to use this as a part of your training schedule, you’re welcome to come along and join us.

Portrush parkrun run report – Saturday 11 July 2026

Saturday morning brought our wonderful parkrun community together again on the beautiful East Strand for another memorable edition of Portrush parkrun. Bank holiday weekends always swell our numbers and this one was no exception as 422 of you chose Portrush parkrun to kick start your day today! Whether you were chasing a personal best, enjoying a gentle walk by the sea, visiting us for the first time, or simply soaking up the stunning North Coast scenery, it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces at the start line.
In what has been an incredible spell of weather we had positively pretty perfect Portrush parkrun conditions on Saturday as our beach conditions go! Overhanging cloud kept the blaring sun away for our runners, joggers, walkers and strollers, while underfoot the receding tide saw us treading on the firm stuff and the still air kept blowy, breezy conditions at bay.
A warm welcome goes to all our first-time visitors and parkrun tourists and the whopping 97 of you who joined us for the first time as Portrush parkrunners. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Portrush and that you'll return again soon. Congratulations also to the whopping 63 of you who recorded a new personal best - your hard work and consistency really are paying off.
A special mention goes to those celebrating official parkrun milestones this week. Every milestone reflects dedication, perseverance and the welcoming spirit that makes parkrun such a special community.
And of course, every finish represented a personal achievement, whether it was a first ever parkrun, a return after a break, another step towards a milestone or simply enjoying clocking up another one on this shoreline.
None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers, who gave up their Saturday morning to make the event happen safely and smoothly for all of us. From setting up the course before most of us arrived, to timing, scanning, marshalling, handing out finish tokens, tail walking and packing everything away afterwards, every volunteer played an essential part. If you've never volunteered before, why not give it a go? It's a rewarding way to experience parkrun from a different perspective, and full support is always provided by our band of core event team and regular volunteers. This week let’s hear it for Alan Taggart, Deborah Archibald, Ian Gillespie, Joe Alcorn, Christopher Gaine, Steven Gibson, Tim McEwen, Claire Vaux, Jason Wilson, Jonathan Workman, Alanna Millar, Faye McLernon, Stuart Vaux, Sharon Kennedy, Mervyn Thompson, Rory Thompson, Clare Carruthers, Nichola Harley, David Spence and Cecil Tw. We appreciate all that you do.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for another fantastic morning at Portrush parkrun. We look forward to welcoming you all back next Saturday at 9:30am for another run, jog, walk or volunteer on our spectacular beach course. We can’t promise positively perfect Portush parkun conditions every week, but we can promise we will be here😊
Have a great week, and see you on the sand again soon!

Well done to all 241 of you who completed our course today on soft sand in windy conditions. Fair play to the dad with the double buggy who gave it a go but had to retire early! 👏👏

Thanks to our super volunteers this week who made this event possible. Everyone else, please consider taking a turn some time 🙏

Special congratulations to Iris Wilson on reaching her 250th milestone today on the same day as a significant birthday🎉 and many thanks for the cake 🎂

Also milestones this week for:
Sandy Pace 100

Hoping for a lower tide for the holiday weekend next Saturday 🤞
