Last weekend

I was in my element - teaching repair to all the amazing people who came into the Darwin’s den tent.

It was a hub of creativity and there was so much energy in the space we were in

This space demonstrates to me my vision of a future where Creative Hubs exist together in our local communities.

My dream to create a space like this has now being reimagined, made a possibility and a reality for the future

Sashiko & Darning
Drop in repair sessions at The Big Retreat Festival 24th-25th May 2026

This weekend I was invited to run drop in repair sessions in the Darwin’s Den tent

We had the most creative and inspiring few days ‘Reimagining our Future’ with my friends from with interactive sessions and inspiring ck versions with some amazing people who came to see us over the weekend.

Darning patched Orange cord Jacket

Darning is becoming one of my favourite methods over the last year.

Creating a woven in patch on a worn area of clothing can add something so beautiful, individual & functional to a worn out garment.

I love creating designs using techniques to a garment.

This garment is almost ready to go back to its owner who has already cherished it for years.

Davina’s cardigan has been a piece I have worked on a couple of times to bring it back to life and for Davina to enjoy it again.

I repaired it last year with invisible darning repairs to each hole on the elbow areas.

She came back to me as new holes had formed either side of the darned areas so we decided to go for it with a laid on visible darning repair combined with Sashiko stitching to create feature elbow patched areas on each sleeve.

Repaired changed the seam to a French seam to give it a second chance for longer

Darning loom patching

Had my first little trial run of the darning loom on these worn through at the knee jeans.

- Started with mending the hole
- Created 3 separate mends over the area with the hole to fully cover it
- It’s not perfect by far but practice makes perfect
