Spoonfeeds or Baby-Led? 🥣🥑🍓🍍🥕
I like both! I eat my porridge, soup and ice cream and jelly with a spoon and I eat my sandwich, banana and biscuits with my hands.
Babies should be allowed to do the same!
Research shows that the more babies get to touch food with their hands, the less fussy and picky an eater they’ll be. This means mess! We generally don’t like messy eaters but it’s only for a short period of time until they master this new skill of eating so, embrace the mess for now!
If babies get to decide when to put food into their mouth, should that be in a spoon or from their hand, they’re also less likely to choke. They feel more in control of the food going into their mouth and it makes it less scary too.
As your baby sees, touches, smells and tastes the food, they get to enjoy the feeding experience and have a healthy relationship to food from the very beginning.
If you are about to start solids with your baby and aren’t to sure where or what to start with, come and join Babies Who Brunch in July. It’s a 2-week course on 23rd and 30th and afterwards you can have a baby who loves their food as much as this little one 😋
