We have been trying out our new Babywearing wraps & carriers Lenny Light carrier for the library. These are sooo popular and I can see why! Such soft snuggly fabric and nice amount of padding. Giant drool pads optional, just because baby girl is chewing her way through everything at the moment đŸ€Ș if you’ve always wanted to try a Lenny but not sure it’s for you, come and have a play! Link in bio as always đŸ„°

Daddy’s learning to back carry 👏👏
And can anyone tell me why this baby refuses to wear her hats but mine is fine?! 😂
In our trusty old Tula free to grow. Such a nice back carry with this!

It’s ring sling season 🌞
Single layer of fabric over you both ✅
Quick and easy to get in and out of, even when you’re too hot to function ✅
Looks cute with your outfits ✅
And you can use the tail as a sweat-reducing layer between you and your baby (thanks to for that one!) 💩

Spread properly, they’re amazingly comfy despite the asymmetrical weight distribution!

If you’d like to try before you buy, come and have a look at my stash of lovely ring slings and other carriers. Link in bio ✹

We have been trying out this unbelievably gorgeous Babywearing wraps & carriers ombuhimo carrier for the library this week. Ombuhimos are based on traditional Japanese babywearing, the key feature of no waistband setting them apart on the market. It’s been a learning curve for me despite knowing the theory and doing it easily with a demo doll, but finding it super light and cool for the hot weather with no sweaty waistband!
They’re also brilliant solutions for people who find a waistband uncomfortable due to abdominal pain or bloating, pregnancy, caesarean scar pain or for taking the pressure off the pelvic floor.
Maeve loves it as she has a brilliant view over my shoulders!

“Can I breastfeed my baby in a sling?”
The real question is, once you’ve started, how did you survive before this?!
Kidding. But breastfeeding in a carrier can feel like a real level up. Depending on you and your baby, different positions may work better, but I love the lowered waistband, loosened straps and just shimmy down to the b**b.
❗breastfeeding in a carrier is never hands free. You need to keep your attention on your baby to ensure their airway remains clear, and move them back up to the hard part of your chest once they’re done.

I am having a really hard time wrapping this baby at the moment. She’s nearly 10 months and the leg straightening/ seat popping is WILD, I just can’t get a wrap to stick for long enough to get her out and distracted. So, this beautiful half buckle from .slings is the best of both worlds. Meh dais and half buckles, particularly with wide straps like this, are a brilliant way to start learning wrapping techniques with the safety back-up of a waistband. This also makes them ideal for starting to back carry.
This was a strangleproof ruck finish, super comfy for our dog walk đŸ©”

Overstimulated as a parent? Same đŸ„Č let’s talk about back carrying!
I have found it the most amazing way to decompress and have a moment for myself whilst still meeting my baby’s needs. She’s so happy there, she has a good view of the world, she’s safely away from whatever I need to do (including drinking actually hot drinks!) and I can just have a breather. Once my hair is tied up anyway 😂
People can be a little bit intimidated of it but once you’ve practiced over your sofa/bed a couple of times it really starts to feel easy. Most carriers offer back carrying so if your baby can tripod sit with good trunk control, give it a try!
You can also back carry from newborn under expert guidance (it’s been done in traditional cultures forever) - if this is something you’re interested in, come see me!

Introductions! I’m Joy and I’m the proud creator of The Sling Doctor. I set the business up as an answer to the woeful lack of babywearing services for Reading, which would have been so helpful for me when I had my daughter last year. As a first time mum, I had no idea what I was doing and through a lot of trial and error found some carriers that worked for us, but it would have been so much cheaper and easier if I’d found a sling library!
That’s where The Sling Doctor comes in - with an extensive library of slings, wraps and carriers for hire, you can try on as many as you need with expert fitting advice from me, then hire out your favourite. I trained with Carrying Matters’ Rosie Knowles, a true legend in the field with decades of experience, and I’m so pleased to be able to pass that knowledge on to you.
