Today I spent the day at AUB working outside my comfort zone and having the best time.

I’m really excited to be recreating this incredible 18th century Banyan for The Salisbury Museum for an upcoming exhibition.

I spent the day in the dye room creating samples to figure out the best way to recreate the wonderful Indian block printed pattern.

Using Procreate I drew out the design from the original photographs I took, to work out sizing and to recreate the pattern accurately.

Once printed I traced the design onto tracing paper using Indian ink so it could be exposed onto a screen. I loved the effect it gave. The outline needs some work (it’s a little too chunky!) but it gives me a great base to practice adding the colours, staying as close to the original banyan as possible MA Historical Costume
