Spend your days in the sewing room above our shop, making friends and creating something beautiful to take home. Our sewing teachers are there to guide you every step of the way which means that we can welcome all levels. Beginners can learn the basics in a fun, relaxed and supported environment and those wanting to develop their skills can do so under expert tutelage. Pick any to work on over the week. If you finish one project you can start another, with our full shop for inspiration downstairs.⁠

Each residential retreat comes with 6 nights stay at The Grove, the legendary Merchant & Mills house around the corner from our shop in Rye. Come and have a rummage! We will be holding a yard sale at our warehouse with a tempting mixture of fabric remnants, discontinued fabrics, clothing samples (very limited) and some general odds and ends! ⁠

Our warehouse is a 25 minute walk from Rye town centre. Some parking is available. Card and cash accepted, please bring your own bag. Tower St will also be open that day from 10 – 5. ⁠

The most beautiful collection of light and soft mini gingham cottons, each with a delicious jacquard weave border of complimentary colours along the selvedges. ⁠
⁠
These cottons would make excellent shirts, skirts and dresses. You could use them to make a skirt with the selvedge detail running along the hem. To do this, you need to use the fabric cross grain so you need to buy a total of 2.4M for sizes 6-16, and 2.8M for sizes 18-28. When cutting out, the 1M length of the skirt runs across the width of the fabric, and the hem runs parallel to the selvedge.⁠
