Day 1 - ME AND MY WORK.
This is a fab way over this month to introduce myself and my work to all the new followers that have joined me lately recently and share more of the back story.
Welcome!
I’m Lisa, a textile designer by trade and a mum of 2. I majored in weave for 4 years at Brighton uni. Ended up falling into the rabbit hole of conceptual print design for high street fashion for 15 or so years 🤪
When I had kids ( after a long time trying!) I did start to look at the world differently. I’m sure a lot of you can relate.
One day - about 8 years ago in the midst of nappies and snot - I took an indigo dyeing workshop.
It changed everything for me.
Indigo dyeing combined with shibori pattern making was like no other textile application I had ever used. It was so easy for me to do it at home - which I must admit was one of the main reasons I became so hooked. It gave me that creative outlet I so desperately needed to take me away from being a full time mum for a few hours!
It was like craft crack 😂
I think we all need that escape sometimes, right?!?!
Fast forward 8 years and I’ve turned my indigo love into Indigowares, a little brand that creates clothing that is kind to your skin and the planet 💙🤗💙

Building a business is like having a baby for sure. And having the support from a business ‘family’ makes it all the more stronger and easier to navigate.

Bite size indigo info -
This foam is known as ‘the indigo flower’ it’s basically the indigo that hasn’t combined into the vat. It’s also a sign of how healthy and strong the dye vat is.
For a natural dyer it’s a good indicator as to what state the vat is in before we start dyeing.

Sneak peek of things to come….
We are getting ready to head to in Olympia. It’s been on, it’s been off and it’s on!
Finally we will be sharing our latest pieces that are available wholesale. So if you would like to come see our new wares the show kicks off this Sunday through until Tuesday!
(Note - this is a trade show.)
I can’t tell you how much of a juggle this is with the school hols smack bang in front of it.
But we have 2 clear days to get packed. Looking forward to having some special meetings! Can’t wait to tell you more.

Fill Seal Fold Repeat.
Sometimes you have to try new things out to know if they can work when you’re running a small business.
I have loved creating Indigowares very own Natural indigo & Shibori DIY kit.
It’s based on the user having little or no knowledge so that they can have a go at home.
I had help testing it with a bunch of creative folk who gave me lots of feedback and advice on how to tweak it.
It has a base of Indigo too.
My latest learning with it has been wholesale.
Very soon I will be sharing our new stockist, which is super exciting!
