As winter's chill lingers, hidden beneath dormant trees, subtle changes are starting to happen, getting ready for warmer weather to come. 🌳❄️

With the gradual lengthening of days and a gentle rise in temperature, the sap of trees like the silver birch and maple will soon begin to journey from root to canopy, carrying stored sugars and nutrients essential for growth and the unfurling of new leaves. 🍁🌞

At the start of March the sap will be harvested and turned into delicious syrup and wine. 🍯

Wandering through woods in February offers a unique beauty—bare branches against winter skies and the earliest signs of renewal. 🌲🌸

The first crocuses and snowdrops are peeking through the soil - spring's not too far away! 🌷✨

Crocuses bring more than just a splash of colour. Early bloomers like these play an important role in the cycle of nature, heralding a period of awakening and growth.

Crocuses share a special bond with the "early bumblebee" (Bombus pratorum) 🐝. These bees, emerging from their winter sleep, find in crocuses a much-needed source of nectar and pollen at a time when other flowers have yet to bloom.

This relationship showcases nature's synchrony: the bees gain the sustenance they desperately need, and in return, the crocuses receive the gift of pollination, ensuring their species' continued propagation.
