We need to stop this horrible, thoughtless act by the higher-ups at the Church

URGENT UPDATE: 🔒 WE ARE LOCKED OUT! 🔒

Sadly, the rumours are true. After 13 years as a tenant, and with just 2 weeks notice, the United Methodist Church has locked us out of the building, changed the locks and disconnected all utilities.

Our electronic and musical equipment, kitchen appliances, and furniture is now at risk of degradation due to disconnected services, and no ability to access them. These valuable resources belong to the community, and damage to this equipment will inhibit its further benefit to all.

We have been informed that we only have one day to reclaim the equipment under supervision - including our newly fitted kitchen, pool tables, full venue sound and lighting equipment, and furniture. 😔 This is not feasible, given the amount of equipment contained within the building.

It brings us great sadness to announce that the ministry that owns Bedford Road Church has decided to sell the building - the home of Flashlight St Ives since our opening in 2010.

This building has provided a safe and secure environment for hundreds of young people in St Ives over the years, and its closure will have a detrimental impact on our community. We have invested time, effort, and thousands in community funding to ensure that this building meets the needs of our community. Without this resource, we are simply unable to continue our work, in which we provide professional counseling support, cooked meals, and activities that promote creativity and allow members to develop social and vocational skills.

We are heartened by the support of our community members who are rallying to help us protect this vital resource, and we urge you to sign and share this petition to reverse the UMC's decision to sell the building.
