BIG NEWS!
Over the last few months Martin & I have been working behind the scenes to plan our retirement from the shop. We have today completed the sale of the business & are proud to announce that the business of Kids Klobber will continue as a going concern with Kieron & his team at the helm. We have spent a long time together discussing every aspect of the business to ensure a smooth, seamless handover with minimal disruption. The shop is likely to be closed from tomorrow (Saturday 23rd May) with a plan to reopen on Thursday 28TH May. As you are well aware we are very “old school” (forgive the pun) so they will bring the business into the 21st Century, also including online sales.
This is going to be a significant change of lifestyle for us. Martin first set up on a market stall as a fresh faced 22 year old back in 1987, before we were married, with me helping at Weekends, whilst working at Lloyds Bank full time.
We set up the shop to run alongside the market stall in 1994, with Zoe, our 5 month old daughter, so we didn’t do things by halves! Shannon, our younger daughter, came along in 1996, literally two hours after I finished a busy August day in the shop & Martin had packed away the stall. Two days later I found myself piling a two year old & newborn into the car to get a new shop till in Poole whilst Martin ran the shop.
We have loved (virtually) every minute of our life here. Met some very loyal customers, a few “local characters” & in recent years been supported by second & even third generation customers bringing their children along.
Obviously we are going to miss everyone greatly but there comes a time to let go & see life on the other side. We are hoping to be able to spend more time with our growing family plus a few more holidays & days out. We are proud of what we have achieved & would like to sign off by thanking all our customers, schools & suppliers (and our family of course) for supporting our venture & having faith in us. We could not have done this without you.
Finally we wish Kieron & staff every success and ask that you all give them the same support & kindness you have shown us. We know it will be in safe hands – it’s not their first rodeo by any stretch of the imagination!
