✨ From Prom Night to a Forever Keepsake… ✨

This beautiful unicorn has been lovingly handcrafted from a prom dress worn in 2010.

Although the dress looked full and flowing, there was actually very little usable fabric for the larger pattern pieces. That meant every cut had to be carefully planned to make the most of every precious scrap.

The original pleated bodice has been recreated across the unicorn’s chest, the luxurious velvet has been added to highlight the ears, muzzle and hooves, and even the dress linings have been incorporated to ensure as much of the original dress as possible lives on in this keepsake.

Plenty of hand sewing beads, carefully placing them one by one to preserve the sparkle and elegance of the original gown.

No two memory keepsakes are ever the same. Every garment presents its own challenges, but that’s all part of creating something truly unique—giving treasured clothing a new life while preserving the memories stitched into every thread.

I hope this unicorn will be treasured for many years to come and always bring back memories of a very special night. 🦄💖

✨ Every stitch tells a story…

Today’s job has been all about transforming precious prom memories into something that can be hugged and cherished for years to come.

What surprises many people is that, although a prom dress looks full of fabric, there often isn’t as much usable material as you’d think. The beautiful tulle and embellished sections are stunning to look at, but they can’t always be used for the larger pattern pieces.

So today’s challenge has been making the most of every scrap—using the dress linings to recreate the elegant pleated bodice while carefully saving the embellished details for where they’ll have the biggest impact.

It’s a bit like solving a puzzle… finding a way to honour the original dress while creating something completely new.

I can’t wait to show you how this one comes together. 🩷🧸

🧸 Behind the scenes at Stitch in Time Bears…

For the next couple of weeks, I’ll be head down creating five handmade memory bears, each one lovingly made from a much-missed Grandad’s clothing. ❤️

This special order includes a wonderful mix of shirts, pyjamas, a jacket, trousers and a dressing gown, all of which will be carefully transformed into beautiful keepsake bears for his family to treasure for generations.

Being trusted to create memory bears from loved ones’ clothing is something I never take for granted. Every stitch is sewn with care, knowing these are far more than pieces of fabric—they’re precious memories.

I’ll be sharing little updates as these handmade memory bears come to life, so keep an eye on the page over the next few weeks. 🧵🐻

🌸 A Little Notice From Stitch in Time Bears 🌸

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I’ll be taking a few days off to recharge and spend some time with family.

📅 The workshop will be closed from today until Monday 29th June.

These four beauties went home today 🧸❤️

Two keepsake bears lovingly created from the baby clothes of two very special little boys, preserving precious memories from those early years.

And two memory dogs made from the coat of a much-loved four-legged friend, created to keep treasured memories close after a heartbreaking loss.

Every stitch tells a story, and it is always a privilege to be trusted with such precious items and memories.

Thank you to my lovely customers for allowing me to create these special keepsakes. Wishing these memory bears and dogs many years of cuddles and comfort in their new homes. ❤️

I wonder how many bits of cotton a sewer drink in a year? At this point I’m less concerned about the answer and more concerned that one day I’ll cough and a fully stitched bear will come out.” 🧸☕🤣
