Toiling!
First week back at LeannMarieDesign is done!... and the 2026 year is opening with a bespoke project 💕
Bespoke production is personal to your own measurements. This is not made-to-order like a boutique purchase. Bespoke is made-to-measure and a bespoke gown will not need alterations after it has been made.
This is because the fitting work and the design refinements are achieved before your gown is even made, through a drafting and toiling process. This involves using your measurements to create a draft and series of flat-patterns. Followed by a mock-up series of 2 or 3 dress toiles in calico or muslin. These mock-ups are used to establish the perfect fit before we cut your precious bridal cloth.
At LeannMarieDesign, we only accept two gown projects per year. But we also teach this process at Trent University and to other professionals for their own career development.
If you're wondering about how this process works as bride or a professional, fire us some questions and get curious! 😘
