🐑 Sheepskin of the Week 🐑

This week we're shining a spotlight on our beautiful Limestone Cream Sheepskin.

There is something wonderfully understated about this one. The fleece carries soft limestone and cream tones throughout, completely natural and entirely undyed, with all of the character and variation that only nature can create. No bleach, no dye, no colour enhancement, just the genuine shades of a rare breed British fleece.

We carefully selected this sheepskin for its luxurious texture, generous wool and elegant colouring. The fur has a wonderfully soft handle and a lovely depth that catches the light beautifully, making it equally at home draped over a favourite chair, laid beside the bed, or adding warmth and texture to a cosy reading corner.

Like all of our British rare breed rugs, it comes from sheep bred and grazed in the UK before being tanned in our trusted South West tannery. We then hand finish every rug here in Somerset, ensuring each one is ready to become part of a home for years to come.

No two sheepskins are ever quite the same, which is exactly what makes them so special.

If ever there was a pair designed for slow mornings, fresh coffee and not leaving the house until absolutely necessary… it might be these.

Handmade in Somerset, our new Plush Slippers are soft, warm and seriously comforting. The deep, fluffy sheepskin trim wraps right around the foot for that super cosy, sink-in feeling. These are the sort of slippers you put on “just for a minute” and then realise you are still wearing at 4pm.

Perfect for chilly floors, winter evenings and those in-between seasons when the house never quite feels warm enough.

Some sheepskins make an impression because of their size....Others because of their character....This one manages both!

Icelandic sheepskins are unlike any other breed we work with. Their famous double coat combines a wonderfully soft underfleece with longer, flowing guard hairs that create movement, texture and an almost wild beauty. They feel less like a rug and more like a piece of nature brought indoors.

What makes this particular fleece so special is its sheer presence. At 115cm × 90cm, it is exceptionally broad, creating a wonderfully generous shape that is increasingly difficult to find. It has a fullness to it that instantly draws the eye and invites you to run your hand through the fleece.

The colouring is entirely natural, free from dyes and bleach, allowing the unique character of the fleece to shine through exactly as nature intended. Every variation in tone, every subtle shift in texture, tells the story of the sheep it came from and the landscape it once roamed.

These oversized Icelandic sheepskins are becoming increasingly difficult to source, particularly in shapes and sizes like this. When one comes through the workshop that feels this special, we know it won't be here for long.

A beautiful statement piece for a favourite chair, beside a bed, or simply somewhere it can be admired and enjoyed every day.

Jacob sheepskins are never uniform, that’s their charm. Deep chocolate tones sit alongside soft ivory, with markings that twist and shift across each fleece. No two are alike, which makes bringing a pair together into one balanced piece a real labour of love.
These two single sheepskins came through at different times, not as a ready-made pair. We held onto them, knowing they had something about them, waiting until the right match came along. When we finally laid them side by side in the workshop, there was a moment where it just worked. The markings flowed, the tones echoed each other, and suddenly it became a rug rather than two separate skins.

That’s the part you never quite capture in photos, the journey behind the creation.

At 218cm, it’s unapologetically generous. The kind of piece that anchors a room rather than simply finishing it. Over a long bench, along a hallway, or at the foot of a bed, it brings movement, texture and that unmistakable rare breed character.

Made slowly, by hand, in our Somerset workshop using 100% British Jacob sheepskins. Nothing rushed, nothing forced, just carefully brought together when the right moment came.
