Photos don’t do these organdie curtain covers justice! From the original dark velvet curtains in the first photo, to how the room has been brightened with gold organdie. Over 12sq meters of fabric and carefully pleated to fall in with the pleats!

If anyone is concerned about the lack of toilet paper in the coronavirus panic buying situation we are in, I make and use cloth wipes made from towelling that are washable. This may not be everyone’s preference, but I’m happy to explain more. I prefer to reuse current fabric which makes them very cost effective. If you have any questions please contact me.

Memory cushions made recently for a loved one’s family from shirts. The gentleman was a painter/decorator and wore braces. The family asked for all holes and paint marks to be included and names that he was known by embroidered onto the cushions. They were happy to let me use my creativity. I supplied cushions and liaised with the family as to which name should belong to which cushion.

I’m pleased to say they absolutely loved them. I enjoyed making them and helping the family hold on to their memories.

Now Christmas is over, I wanted to share two memory cushions, made from loved ones shirts, which were given as a Christmas present. It is such a special project to be asked to work on, which is so meaningful. I very much enjoyed making them.

More memory items in progress, ready for Christmas presents. Photos to follow. Currently working on making cushion covers from shirts from a loved one. A lovely project to work on.

A memory blanket. Was 5x6 squares. More patchwork added to make it 8x8.
Each square is cut from a loved ones shirt and patch-worked together. Wedding and backing added. A lovely piece to be asked to work on hopefully much loved for many years to come by its owner.

Sewing is not just about creating something, a lot of it is also about repairing or altering an otherwise unsuitable garment to get extended use out of. I prefer to recycle, reuse and put less in landfill. I use/d cloth nappies on both my children. Sadly not everyone can afford the initial outlay (even though cloth nappies are cheaper in the long run) some people can’t even afford to buy disposables, so having funding for this basic need is so helpful, to many.
Please sign the petition below.

You may have cloth nappy incentives available to you in your area, you may not. They are all at risk to funding cuts as our Local Authorities struggle on ever decreasing budgets. We would like to see incentives being funded by Central Government so they can be available across the UK.

As we learned on Monday the volunteers we are so fortunate to have in the cloth nappy community work tirelessly to support families in to cloth. Research shows that without this support even where incentives are in place families often do not continue to use cloth nappies.

Please sign our petition and
Get your friends and family to sign too! And your MP!

Once you've signed, tell everyone! As a community we can make a change.
