We are delighted to see Origami fitted out and ready to go.

We created a host of solutions for this nifty little ocean racer.
From bunk cushions, to lee cloths, stowage netting, wall pockets, sheet bags, a little cuddy and some water resistant rapid deploy flare stowage.

We can work remotely!

Plus Colour swatches and full on sketches if needed...

This one was a simple box, with a neat drawstring that pulls internal lighter fabric taught rather than the outer, allowing the heavy duty canvas to do its job without being compromised.

The drawstring appears out of the side, and is easy to pull and release.

This works on loads of outdoor furniture and equipment not just boats.

It's nice to work with repeat customers...

Even if it takes 10 years to replace a "temporary" cover.

The new one is likely to last longer than 10 years before it needs replacing, but there's plenty of other jobs to do!

A small 30-minute sail repair.

In as little as 3 hours.

The thing about older sails is that while you're fixing one thing, you spot another. Then another. Then somebody says:

"Eh, may as well do that while we're here."

So the quick repair became a new leech line, removal of the leech line cleat, hand-sewing it back on, and me hand-cranking the sewing machine through more layers than it particularly wanted to deal with. I only knackered up one needle in the process.

Honestly, I don't mind jobs like this. The owner waited and participated in the repair, we chatted, the time flew by, and the sail left in far better shape than it arrived.

Also, before anyone asks, "where can I get a llama!?"
I find my fabric weights from all sorts of places, mostly garden centres or shops that sell doorstops.

Life doesn't have to be boring.

You can use plain metal weights if you want.

Or you can spend your day being supervised by a small collection of random animals.

I know which option I'm choosing.

The proper tool exists.
Somewhere in a factory 6,000 miles away.

But we need the job done this week, not sometime between “dispatched” and “arrived at local depot”.

So naturally we engineered our own precision seam guide device out of thick card and determination.

It looks ridiculous.
Works perfectly.

So who's laughing now ay?

One more slightly ridiculous dream achieved.

Back in 2014, while doing this race for the second time, I remember quietly thinking to myself, “Imagine sponsoring this one day…”

Fast forward to now, and here I am opening a box of freshly printed battle flags with my heart going at a rate my Garmin watch will probably congratulate me for later.

Because right up until the moment you open the box, there’s always the possibility you’ve accidentally approved:
• the wrong artwork
• the wrong colours
• a typo the size of a mainsail
• or hundreds of pounds worth of professionally manufactured embarrassment

Thankfully… they’re actually bloody brilliant.

Here's a perfect excuse to share this lovely sunrise video from Team Unicef, with Skipper Guy Waites giving an update on their progress.
2 minutes in, if you haven't drifted off at the sound of such a calming voice in tranquil seas, you can see our antiwrap net still doing its thing, after many thousand miles, there it is... still doing its job.
