Colour Block, 2025

These colour experiments explore the mixture colours that emerge in the 4 areas where colours cross over, and also how a background colour joins the palette despite not being part of the fabric.

These are woven in a twill structure, equal in warp and weft coverage. The results of the colour mixtures would be completely different again if woven in other structures or other warp/weft balances.

If I could, I would just work through them ALL until I had covered every possible combination, soaking up all the delicious dancing colours forever

Is it me or do some yarns look like they are a flavour? Like if they were a boiled sweet? Like they would be a delicious sour fruity citrusy taste?

The only colour I'm not getting that vibe from here is the dark green

Am I just sleep deprived 😂

There is no need to learn a proper woven structure - you can absolutely make it up as you go!

Doing so can be joyful and intuitive - and the outcome will be a surprise. A zero pressure way to play with yarn and colour and composition!
