Did the 2000s feel brighter or is it just us?
Everything just felt louder back then.
Not even just music… everything.
Posters, magazines, shop windows, nights out, even games on the TV. It all had this mad energy to it.
Nothing was really subtle, everything was trying to outdo everything else.
You’d see a flyer and it was just chaos… colours everywhere, random fonts, loads going on.
You’d walk past a shop and the whole window was trying to grab you.
Even magazines felt like you had to actually sit there and take it all in.
And staying in felt different as well.
Sitting in front of a TV that wasn’t even that clear, colours all blending into each other, bit blurry… but it just felt better somehow. Warmer. Like you were actually there.
Photos too — half of them were overexposed or mid-moment, not even “good” by today’s standards… but they stick way more.
There was no clean aesthetic or anything like that.
People just did what they wanted.
Now everything’s way more polished. Looks better technically.
But it feels a bit quieter.
Maybe it’s just nostalgia.
Be honest… was it actually better?
