An unusual late 1940s/1950s hat in deep cocoa brown, made from smooth sinamay with a subtle sheen and trimmed with matching felt.
Brown was a particularly popular colour for hats during the 1930s–50s, being easy to coordinate with coats, handbags and shoes, and providing a softer alternative to black.

The hat has a low asymmetric brim, with felted wool,ribbon edging and band, with a large stylised bow at the back, formed from loops of felt and sinamay.

Finished inside with a grosgrain band and it’s elastic stay cord, worn beneath the hair to help keep the hat securely in place.

1940s chocolate brown felt toy tilt hat, with an asymmetric brim and double-sided grosgrain ribbon trim. and a delicate veil.
Designed to perch jauntily at an angle and held in place by the circular halo band.

A lovely example of wartime millinery, with the clever shaping and distinctive silhouette so characteristic of the period.

For social media I’d do something much lighter:

Fabulous original 1940s alligator skin platform shoes, in rich glossy chestnut brown. Peep toes, slingback straps and wonderful substantial heels, beautifully made and in excellent vintage condition.

Made by M. & P. Bullard, Shoemaker, Government Road, Nairobi — such an unusual label to find.

A particularly lovely surviving pair of 1940s shoes, with beautiful natural patina and remarkably little wee.
They are circa a size UK 3/3.5
The measurements:

Width across ball of foot: 8.cm 3¼”
Vamp lexcluding platform): 12.8cm 5”
Heel height: 7.5cm 3”

Original late 1930s/early 1940s camel wool felt tilt hat with a sweeping asymmetric brim. Decorated with a structural folded, double-sided grosgrain ribbon, green on one side and camel on the other, and finished with button trim and a matching green face veil.

Designed to be worn on a tilt.

In very good vintage condition. The net has some tiny age-related breaks, as shown in the photographs. #1930/40s
