Black is better always! The only actual hint of colour on the upper comes from the branding and heel cup, which both take on an iridescent oily shimmer, while the soleplate of the fold-over tongue version features a special metallic-chrome finish.

Where does these rank in the predator family?

The upper features adidas ClimaCool technology, and as these are Beckham’s football boots, is made from a synthetic material in keeping with his animal rights beliefs. The ClimaCool technology channels cool air through to the feet and provides ventilation to prevent any moisture build-up, ideal for the Italian and US climates.

These were probably the most technologically advanced Predator football boots of it daya, not just because of the ClimaCool technology but also the PowerPulse chamber and SwerveZone.

The Powerswerve was a Predator that Zidane helped Adidas to develop. As the name suggests, this boot was focussed on swerve and power. And tests showed that it increased both. The main new technology with these were the insoles - they each had a small chamber which housed Tungsten powder. This gives more powerful shots as the weight moves with the foot when the ball is kicked, similar to the principle of a pendulum. This is the 'control' version of the boots, which added extra foam under the upper, which improved the touch on the ball. And, as always, the typical rubber grip sits in strategic places on the boot.
