In case anyone missed our previous post on recent changes. Our prices have not changed we are simply now taking payment on booking and not forward booking you into the diary months in advance.

📣A little PeeWee/Poppy public service announcement… because it would seem that making my business run sensibly is ruffling some feathers... 🪶 yes, true story.

We’re changing the way saddle fittings are booked, but before anyone faints into a haynet:

Hey gang!

I currently have approximately ninehundredbillionty unread messages. (I counted. No, I didn’t.)

The last few weeks have been utterly wild (as per usual), but I’ve somehow managed to blag myself THREE WHOLE DAYS OFF. So Bertie, Jude, my daughter and some lovely friends are off to the forest for a bit of fresh air, riding and general soul-refilling.

The boys have been left in charge of the house, the dogs… and Heath The Beef 🥩 . Thoughts and prayers. 😂

While I’m away I’ll be gradually battling my way through the message mountain. But just a little reminder…

If your message is about saddle fittings, appointments, my diary, saddle repairs, buying anything, or generally anything that doesn’t actually require me to personally answer, please message Lyndsay via the Peewee Saddlery page instead.

I promise, you won’t get a quicker answer by coming through me. Quite the opposite - cos Lyndsay replies ridiculously quickly. I reply when I accidentally find myself on holiday once every six months. 🤦🏼‍♀️

She’s taken on even more hours now and totally runs the admin side of my life (lucky her!) because, quite frankly, I am spectacularly bad at it. She’s organised, efficient and genuinely enjoys helping people. I’m… well… me. Oooh shiny thi….n…g **skips off**

So please use Lyndsay. It’ll be much faster for you, and it’ll stop my inbox from looking like it needs its own postcode.

If you’ve messaged me about something that genuinely can’t be dealt with by Lyndsay and it’s urgent, feel free to bump or resend your message so it pops back to the top of my inbox.

Right… off to disappear into the woods for a few days. To sweat, sleep, wallow in a hot tub, sleep some more. And maybe even ride my pony if I find time between messages and napping.

We promised more saddle fitting clinics and here they are! We're pleased to announce three saddle fitting clinic dates for August!

📍 Clinic Dates
🐴 Wednesday 19th August – Truesdale Equestrian
🐴 Monday 24th August – Forest Edge Arena
🐴 Thursday 27th August – Thistlebrook Stables

Clinic appointments are ideal if:
✔️ You don't have access to an arena at home.
✔️ You'd like an appointment sooner.
✔️ You're happy to travel to us for your fitting.

Whether you're looking for a new saddle, need your current saddle checked or adjusted, or simply want peace of mind that everything is fitting as it should, we'd be delighted to see you.

📩 Appointments must be booked and paid in advance.
To book, please send us a message on Facebook or email [email protected] with your name, your horse's details and which clinic you'd like to attend.

Appointments are limited, and book fast, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

📢 A few changes to the way we book saddle fitting appointments...
After nearly 20 years of saddle fitting (where has that gone?! 😳), we've decided it's time to make a few changes to help everything run a little more smoothly.

From 1st July:
💳 Bookings will be able to be made by phone, text, email or online.
📝 All new saddle fitting enquiries will be asked to complete a short online form before booking. This means Poppy has all the important information about you, your horse, your current saddle and what you're looking to have done. E.g. new saddle or refit existing one.
💳 Appointments will now be paid for at the time of booking.
This is one we've put off for years... but unfortunately we've reached the point where too many people forget appointments, don't turn up, or don't pay afterwards.
Paying when you book confirms your appointment and means we can keep the diary running fairly for everyone.

Our cancellation policy will be:
✅ More than 48 hours' notice: Full refund
✅ 24 to 48 hours' notice: 50% refund (unless we're able to fill the appointment, in which case you'll receive a full refund)
❌ Less than 24 hours' notice: No refund (unless we're able to fill the appointment)

📍 More Saddle Fitting Clinic Days!
This is the exciting bit!
We're adding lots more saddle fitting clinic dates around the country, hiring lovely arenas where you can bring your horse to us.
That means:
• Shorter waiting times
• More appointment availability
• Ideal if you don't have an arena at home
• Perfect if you'd rather not wait for Poppy to be in your area

Don't worry though... Poppy will still be travelling to yards as normal. These clinics are simply giving everyone another option.

When Poppy Webber - Qualified Saddle Fitterdropped this custom-made beauty off last week, she couldn’t resist grabbing a photo. I mean… just LOOK at it. 😍

But this saddle is much more than a pretty face.

This lovely little (well… chunky!) Connemara has always been a bit of a tricky customer when it comes to saddles. He’d had a sore back for quite some time, was very sensitive to being saddled, and had started becoming a bit naughty under saddle too. His owner asked Poppy if she come out and see if SHE could work out what why he was always so sore.

As with so many Connemaras, the biggest problem wasn’t just the fit. It was the movement.

These compact little tanks can be incredibly difficult to fit. Saddles often end up too long for their ribcage, with too much panel and too much bulk underneath. The result? The saddle teeters and wobbles around on their backs, creating pressure and instability.

Poppy’s answer was to go much shorter, much simpler and much closer to the horse.

Introducing the PeeWee Connuccio. Literally meaning “Little Connie.” ❤️

This one, however, is anything but standard.

It was built completely to order with:

• Short panel
• Closer contact panel
• GP round-cantled seat with an extra-soft foam layer
• Jump flap
• Large jump blocks
• Whisky patent croc front facing
• Whisky patent croc rear facing
• Whisky patent croc cantle piece
• Cream contrast stitching, including additional stitching around the flap and skirt (snigger 🤭)
• Cream welting, including the keeper

The best bit?

Since changing saddles he’s stopped being sore, stopped being naughty, and has turned back into the happiest little adventurer. He’s been out exploring with his ears pricked, a huge happy grin on his face, and his owner finally has the horse she always knew was in there.

Now that’s what a custom saddle is really about.

(Although… we can’t pretend we’re not completely obsessed with the whisky croc. 😍)

This is one of our custom made PeeWee jump saddles - this particular saddle is the Milano and is available as a dual flap, mono flap, or like this one, a split flap - which is a mono flap with an internal knee block - designed for ultimate security in the seat. From £1995.
Oh, and you can bling them up to the max too!

Can you tell if a saddle fits just from a photo?
Nope. 👎🏼 Not really.

Here’s a particularly lovely saddle I fitted last week — and after a string of posts about saddles not fitting, I thought it was time to show a good one! You’ll have to take my word for it that this one fits the horse well.

But just because you can’t confirm a good fit from a photo…
Does that mean you can’t spot a bad one?

Actually — no. It’s much easier to spot a poorly fitting saddle in a photo than to confirm a good fit. Why? Because saddle fitting involves about a trillion factors (technical term). You can see some of them in a photo, but the rest you can only assess in person, by seeing and feeling how the saddle interacts with the horse in motion.

So yes — you can often tell when a saddle doesn’t fit from a photo. But confirming that one does fit? That’s a much bigger ask.
