💫Hear me out.

💫I love an outdoor ceremony, there’s something very special about being outdoors & let’s be honest, we have to make the most of it when we can.

💫But with the extreme temperatures we’ve been experiencing it can be so uncomfortable for you and your guests.

💫As celebrants we talk about the ceremony being the start of your celebrations, the reason everyone’s there. We’ve worked together to create your personal ceremony that you want everyone to enjoy. But with this heat, all everyone wants is to get it over with so they can find some shade.

💫Now, if you’re in a shady area, or have some shelter from the sun, absolutely go for it! But if not, consider having your actual ceremony indoors or under some shelter, and then your guests can enjoy the rest of the day outdoors where they can move around and seek shade if they need it.

💫It’s only a small window of your day, but an important one.

💫We talk about having a wet weather plan, maybe now we need to start thinking about an extreme heat plan!

Just for fun 🥵

💫As a celebrant I’ve stood at the front of an outdoor summer ceremony in the direct sun with sweat trickling down my back, but listen, I’m there for however long the ceremony is and the time it takes to set up and pack away.

💫So to all the wedding suppliers who are there all day, wedding coordinators,photographers, videographers, content creators, venue staff, you’re amazing!

💫I fully appreciate all the other people who continue to work in this heat in all areas, although to be fair I very nearly took my chair to set up camp in the supermarket today, it was positively chilly! 😂

💫Distance didn’t stop Eric & Caroline from finding each other and falling in love, and it didn’t stop them finding me to be their celebrant.

💫Let’s go back to March 2025 and an email that landed in my inbox from USA.

💫Caroline & Eric were planning their UK Wedding Ceremony & were looking for a celebrant.

💫With Caroline in Philadelphia & Eric in Texas, we worked out time differences and arranged a zoom call.

💫I loved their story & immediately felt a connection & hoped they’d choose me…they did.

💫We arranged further zoom calls & managed to meet up when they visited the UK later last year.

💫With about 40 of their closest family & friends, who were all amazing, flying in to join them, their ceremony Davenport House
was full of love and lots of laughter.

💫I combined their wishes of tradition, religious content & fun elements in their Wedding Ceremony, which blended beautifully, and they toasted with a shot of bourbon.
It was an absolute joy from start to finish.

💫Last year I made the decision not to book any ceremonies in June, a risky decision given that June is a popular month to get married.

💫But for the last few years we haven’t had the chance to spend a summer weekend with family & friends.

💫Of course I’ve still been working, meeting couples, writing scripts and all the other behind the scenes work in the life of a celebrant, but at a slightly slower pace, and i’ve kept my weekends free for us.

💫So today we’re off to celebrate our two grandsons, born on the same day to our two daughters & just six hours apart…crazy! They were born in December but our girls decided when they were born to have a joint party each year in June, the weekend of the summer solstice.

💫With a toy story theme, a bouncy castle, cake, games, family & friends I will be out of office soaking up the love and laughter.

💫So did you spot what’s missing? It’s me 😂 but to all the wonderful couples getting married today, have the most amazing day.

💫Normal service will be resumed when I’ve recovered 🥴
