What opening hours would you like to see in the new shop?

We will close Monday & Tuesday.

I was thinking of opening later in the day and opening later outside ‘normal working hours’ so you can still come get your book fix after work, or just sit in peace and read for a bit. 😂

Hello 👋

We’ve had a lot of new people follow us of late, so I think it’s time for a re-introduction.

I’m Charley 👋

Book lover, mood reader and frenchie mum to Lily.

I started The Bookery as I didn’t want to sit behind a desk as an accountant anymore, my way of thinking changed when I was diagnosed with blood cancer.

So we made the decision to go after my dream of owning a bookstore and being able to support smaller bookish businesses and indie authors.

We can now do ALL that with the new shop in Swadlincote- I’ll be announcing the opening day very soon.

We have grown so much in the last year, from meeting so many of you at fantastic book events to the pod at the farm and now onto the shop, to even being named one of the nations favourite businesses.

We’ve been named one of the nation’s favourite businesses.

I’m so proud of how far The Bookery has come this last year.

From wrapping books on a small table in the living room, to the pod, book events and now a brick and mortar shop.

This really means so much, and wouldn’t be possible without all of YOU!

Now.. to find something to wear that’s bookish to the House of Lords. 😱😂

This month for events is looking so fun!!

Sat 12th- Birmingham book extravaganza (Moseley)

Sat 19th- Trentham & Burton book bash
Sun 20th - Burton book bash & Romantasy fest- Newark

Sat 26th- Stoke on Trent comic con

Phew! That’s a packed month and we have the shop to get ready!!

Now the hard work starts.

Time to work out the layout I want, get some paint and wallpaper ready and work out a few surprises.

We are going to close for a week or so to get everything done, so watch out for a big opening day.

All our books are brand new, you don’t have to worry about the fear of book mould or damaged spines on your next read.

We do lots of genres, from dark romance, thriller, horror, spicy and even children’s books

It isn’t just ‘pot luck’ either, we give you the genre then if you flip the book over you get hints and the vibes of the book.

But that’s not all…
