I’ve been very quiet, I know. But this has been an unbelievably difficult time for me and us as a family, and this was a very hard decision to come to.
Aspinalls closed the doors on the 1st July and it was with great sadness, but also with an understanding of how our customers shopping habits had changed. If you were a customer of mine, think back…. when was the last time you bought something from me?
Things changed big time with covid, yet we survived and thought great, but no, onto the next disaster. This cost of living crisis has drove people to the brink, but my bills are the same each month, more in fact, yet there’s no relief for me if my customers mortgage has gone up, or they have a big electricity bill to pay, and luxuries are the first thing to stop understandably. My husband then lost his job and I realised something had to change. 🥲
What I want to say is thank you to each and every one of you for your support over the last 4 years, its meant the world to me and I’ve made some amazing friends, this was my dream.
Ultimately I couldn’t sustain it any more and my family come first. And now i get to enjoy Saturdays again with them and enjoy eating and shopping at local businesses who are smashing it 👌🏻
We’ve already lost me and Florence and Amelias gift shop, who the owner Nic was a huge inspiration to me when starting out so basically my message here is, its tough out there, really really tough for independents, so please, use them or lose them.
To end, we’re happy and enjoying life which is what its all about! Hopefully see you about..x
