To celebrate the National Year of Reading (and now beyond) I've had the incredible opportunity to join forces with the wonderful Sarah from Therapy Dogs Nationwide 💛🐾
Together, we have been touring schools (and preschoosl) across Leicestershire, running our Ready, Steady, Read (Paw's and Read) sponsored reading events.
Many children feel nervous about reading aloud in front of adults or their classmates. Therapy dogs provide a calm, friendly, and non-judgemental audience, helping children relax, build confidence, and enjoy reading. Spending time with dogs can also reduce stress and promote feelings of comfort and companionship.
Not only do schools raise funds to receive free books for their libraries and classrooms, which has seen over £2,000 of books being delivered so far, but they also enjoy a very special visit from one of Sarah's gentle "cuddle monsters" – her beautiful Bernese Mountain Dogs "Nora and Yogi" 🐾
With the National year of reading, this is truly a wonderful way to celebrate! 📖
We have just a couple of spaces available for the remainder of 2026, and I am super excited to be continuing this inspiring journey with Sarah into 2027!
