Next week will be a busy one finishing with Western Isles Lottery stern Isles Lottery celebrating their 9th birthday at Stornoway Town Hall Stornoway Town Hall on Saturday 8th August. You will find me and my shells plus lots of other lovelies who i am proud to call friends selling their gorgeous products xx

Morning.
That’s me ready for my first time going to Lochs Show, Laxay, today. Starts 12.
I’ve got lots of my hand dived sea urchin lights, plus shells and resin lights.
Should be a fun day out. Love to see you there ###

It’s been a crazy couple of days, trying to get as much done as possible for Stornoway Town Hall markets and various local shows that are on over the next couple of weeks. Shells, shells and more shells are on the go.
You can find me tomorrow and Friday at the town hall.

I also wanted to say a little thing about safety. I have seen so many times people using epoxy and uv resin with their shells, and it’s something that I have learnt to use over the past year, but…… it’s a finish that comes with a multitude of problems if it’s not handled right.
What I thought was an allergic reaction to oysters, 6 months ago, was because of the resin. I had swelling of the face, eyes and sore nostrils.
I’ve learnt to google, mask, glove and ventilate, whenever I am using resin, but even then sometimes I slip up and get too impatient. Because of the experience I had, not simply on the one occasion, I get really worried when I see people on videos not using PPE and even some people online who are charging for a short course who aren’t.

Please be careful with these products.

The last image is of my air purifier that I got a while back which indicates red when there are harmful fumes and odors and extracts them.

I had mentioned in my last post that I sneakily got myself one huge oyster shell. Well, here it is with gold and resin. I am going to take it to Stornoway Town Hall tomorrow for markets and gauge interest, but in the meantime I would love to see what you think? Do I do more? I think it’s stunning and so unusual. It would make a unique dish to put things in or stunning simply sitting on a shelf. I am going to sell for £35 as it took a decent about of resin. Love to hear from you all xx

A couple of weeks ago , or so, I got told off by my friends Katie Macdonald Loch Sealg Designs and Sharon Macdonald.
“ Nooooo, I didn’t need 10 HUGE oyster shells, to make into bowls, no matter how gorgeous they were. I needed boxes to put my urchins and resin lights in”.
Begrudgingly I ordered the boxes and now they have arrived, and yes, they were right. Packaging takes it to the next level. I feel all posh and sophisticated.
Just don’t tell them that I might have bought myself one oyster shell and am now about to gold paint and resin it for the next market to see whether it is popular or not 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤫🤫 Keep you posted 😘
