On one of my looms today, a slight variation on another heather inspired Harris Tweed I wove a couple of years ago with a traditional 8x8 Herringbone weave as opposed to a twill weave. A lovely Lilac warp with a flecked Magenta weft which truly reflects the heather flower when in full bloom here in August. πŸ’œπŸ’œ 🧡πŸͺ‘πŸ§ΆπŸ’™πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ

I'm sure this doesn't happen very often ☺️.
What a surprise in the post today. A pipe tune composed after my name and occupation by a Ross-Shire piper who visited a few weeks ago. I'm absolutely speechless πŸ™ŠπŸ™Š. This lovely Jig just happened to arrive on my Birthday of all days. The thoughtfulness of visitors is just overwhelming. A very humble thank you indeed Paul. πŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸ€ŽπŸ’šπŸ§‘πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ§ΆπŸͺ‘πŸ§΅πŸ’™πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ.

Peat cutting all done for another year. This year I cut some extra further up the hill where my father and grandfather used to cut their peats. Thanks to my neighbours for helping out. Once the peat has shrunk ( hopefully in a few weeks) then I lift them to expose the underneath and stack them together two by two and one on the top. In about two months time they should be completely dry and ready to take home . Free fuel but hard work πŸ’ͺ ☺️πŸ₯ƒπŸ‘

What another busy fortnight this has been. Again, lovely to see so many visitors the world over enjoying all things Harris Tweed. Everything from wool to product explained. One thing that stands out from conversation more than anything else is that the majority just cannot get over the fact, that Harris Tweed continues to be a hand woven textile at the weavers home.

Just over three hundred visitors in this last fortnight alone! Here are just a handful.

Many thanks indeed to all who have visited so far this season. My thanks also to the tour operators and guides old and new who continue to support Seaforth Harris Tweed.

Ben and Corrie also enjoying the love shown by so many. Sheepdog demonstrations also going down a treat as usual.

Moran Taing dhuibh uile (many thanks to you all). πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ§‘β€οΈπŸ’šπŸ€ŽπŸ§΅πŸͺ‘πŸ§ΆπŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπŸ’™πŸ₯ƒ

The Harris Tweed Act 1993 is a UK Act of Parliament that legally defines Harris Tweed and the establishment of the Harris Tweed Authority to protect its authenticity. It mandates that true Harris Tweed must be handwoven by Islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Outer Hebrides, and made from 100% pure virgin Scottish wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides.

A few months ago I had a student visiting learning about all things Harris Tweed for his college studies. As a thank you for such a memorable visit, in the post today, I received a bottle of whisky and this lovely hand painted image of the old croft house where I reside. Amazing detail and talent. Just beautiful and how thoughtful. I feel very humbled indeed. Thank you! 🧢πŸͺ‘πŸ§΅πŸ’™πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπŸ₯ƒ

Photos sent to me by some of the lovely visitors I've had over the past several weeks. Nice to ditch the jumper for my Harris Tweed waistcoat once again with the weather warming up. Although the old saying "don't cast a clout till May is oot" still applies 😎.

Another busy week with visitors. Mostly all from the USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ . Yesterday evening a lovely family group from Texes arriving of the Uig to Tarbert ferry which was running late...they still made it. Amoungst all things Harris Tweed and on departure Juli asked if she could meet my collies Ben and Corrie. This is what she said "My father had a border collie he dearly loved in the last decade of his life, and seeing your collies is such a great reminder. :)"
Finishing the week with another group from the USA this morning.
