After 4 years of trying to support families in Sutton with children's clothing, it's time to say a big Thank You to all those people who have donated clothes to us in that time, given us free space and offered their hard work and time as volunteers.
Fiona, Vanessa and Donna have been with us since the beginning in New Cross Community Church and it was lovely that Lisa was able to join them more recently. Together with new volunteers joining us in the last year they've tried really hard to get more people to use our service after relocating to Portland Pathways a year ago. In spite of this, and your beautiful clothes donations, we still support less than 10 children a month in Sutton. If you've seen our film "Clothing Poverty: Exposed ", you'll know that it's an issue that still so many parents don't want to admit to, especially in a close knit community like Sutton.
Wednesday 16th February will be our final session for this service. Lisa will continue to answer emails to [email protected] to make sure any outstanding click and collect pre-orders are dealt with and pass some conversations over to our Nottingham based national HQ. As we support people from Greater Manchester and Hull to South Wales and North London from our national HQ, by bulk outreach deliveries to organisations for their beneficiaries, we can easily do that in Sutton and surrounding areas too. Ironically, through thus more anonymous way of receiving clothes, we will actually support more local families, not less.
Thank you everyone for 4 years of support!
