It’s the Winter Solstice, marking midwinter, and the first day of the holidays for many.
~
Like so many small business owners, I have spent a frantic week shipping out my last orders, and now realise how much I still have to do for my own Christmas- but I managed to find time to pause and reflect today (writing this in the car whilst my toddler naps!)
~
I’m glad I did though, as my feelings of panic and stress melted into gratitude; I am so lucky to have a life so full that I never feel like I have enough time, that I sometimes feel I can’t pause for breath.

My ‘longest night’ this year was in January, when my partner was gravely ill in hospital. However bleak it was at the time though, looking back I can see that my darkest moment, like the solstice, marked a turning point. Heath and happiness slowly returned, just as the days will gradually get longer and brighter.

Our lives, like the seasons, are constantly changing, and sometimes it’s hard to believe in the promise of spring, but it’s there. If you are in a dark place right now, I hope your solstice comes soon x
