Our tapestry canvases are printed as accurately as they possibly can be, and we are generous with the other materials we provide in our kits. Our designs are a joy to stitch, with no enormous areas of one colour.

Tulip Time looking wonderful in the sunshine.

Tulip Time is a great kit to stitch for yourself, or to make for a friend. It looks fantastic as the centre of a cushion, folded in half as a specs case for sunglasses or reading glasses.

We used purple soft cotton fabric for the border of our Tulip Time cushion, with Cactus green for piping and backing. Our specs case has a lemon yellow lining.

It was lovely to see Lisa recently when she brought in her completed Harlequin Hearts, stitched to celebrate her and her husband’s wedding anniversary.

Lisa has chosen turquoise velvet for piping and orange for backing. Turquoise and orange are great together and we can’t wait to see Lisa’s finished cushion.

Here’s a bit of background about Harlequin Hearts. It started out as a quick oil pastel drawing that I intended to paint over then scratch out in areas to reveal the colours underneath.

After well over a year of deliberating, I decided I preferred it as it was so started transferring the hearts to graph paper so it could be stitched. I was so pleased with how it turned out. Appletons wool colours were perfect for this design.

I’m so glad that Harlequin struck a chord with Lisa. I remember the moment when she spotted the cushion in our workshop. She knew she’d have to stitch it. The colours were just right, and she absolutely loved the hearts theme for her big anniversary.

Here’s a selection of stockings to help you decide on the colours you’d like us to use for the outside and the lining.

Good morning! Happy Friday and happy weekend if you’re heading off to enjoy a long weekend and take advantage of the last Bank Holiday of the summer.

Today we have more dog-themed tapestries for you. The tops and bottoms of the photos we showed on International Dog Day earlier this week were chopped off. We are blaming technology, while secretly admitting that it was probably human error 😊

First up is a smiling Sarah R with her wonderful collection of Christmas stockings that included two Puppies Christmas stockings. Next is George M’s Puppies stocking stitched for Ted, looking great in red velvet.

The office manager is modelling Festive Fairytale which is another of our boot-shaped Christmas stockings, the same shape as Puppies.

The cushions are Pupstar Pals, Dizzy Dogs and Beach Huts, and Candy Stripe Dachshunds. The specs case nestled among the seaside friends is Dogs on the Beach.

Thank you for sending in your Christmas stockings and plenty of time for our October deadline.

Dogs and Cats is one of our Christmas stocking designs in our long shape. You can stitch it for anyone in the family, including the pets! 🐈‍⬛ 🐕

With all of our Christmas stocking kits, you receive a colour printed canvas, a reference chart, lots of Appletons tapestry wool in 10 metre skeins, a size 18 John James needle, and an alphabet chart so you to plan your name panel. Each kit comes in its own recyclable red bag.

All our Christmas stockings are in our Christmas category, link in bio. You can choose to buy the complete kit or the canvas on its own if you already have lots of your own wool to use up.

It’s safe to say that we are dog lovers here at Jolly Red.

For International Dog Day, here’s a look at some of our dog-themed tapestry kits, from our Tennis Ball Thief with its four Jack Russells, through to a patchwork of dog friends in Pupstar Pals, seaside friends on Dogs and Beach Huts, and Candy Stripe Dachshunds for lovers of these wee doggies.

Our goldendoodle office manager is usually head of the welcoming committee for any visitors, and looks forward to seeing postman Jack for our 4pm parcels collection.

Finally, there’s our beloved Flik, who some of you may remember from when we had our workshop next to the Smokery in Hambrige.

We are in Isle Brewers now, just up from Westport. Let us know if you’d like to visit, perhaps to pick up a Bank Holiday stitching project. We’re on 01460 281111.

We have a water bowl for canine visitors, and perhaps the odd treat too! 🐕 🐶

Paula’s been busy! Moonlight Garden tapestry is her third floral tapestry and it will fit very nicely between her two Indian Summer cushions.

We love the striped borders that Paula added, stitched with wool leftover from her three kits. The colours really glow, providing a perfect border for moonlit flowers.

For Paula‘s earlier Indian Summer tapestries, we used royal blue velvet for the border and backing with red for piping. With Moonlight Garden, Paula still has the blue velvet border and red piping but this time the red is carried through to the back. It looks lovely, and is a nice surprise when the cushion is turned over.

Good morning! The office manager has been supervising georginawoodheadphotography on an outdoor photo shoot today.

He was firmly in favour of more walking and less stopping for pictures, but it’s nice to see Apple Season Wedding and The Season to be Jolly enjoying the sunshine.

Good evening! A frequently asked question at this time of year. What size frame do I need to stitch a Christmas stocking?

Choose a 21” or 24” wide frame for our Christmas stocking kits. It’s the width that matters, not the height, as you attach your canvas at the top and bottom of the frame, and roll it as you stitch.

Ask any questions in the comments, or give us a call from 8.30 am tomorrow when we’ll be back in the workshop, packing and posting for Bank Holiday stitching.
