Things have been quietly happening at Wool Engineering and I wanted to let you know about them.

I met Kate of Barking Mad Textiles and Candles at one of the first fairs I did, and she was the first fellow crocheter I encountered also selling her wares. And so I’m so happy to tell you that Kate Livingstone Was Ormrod is taking on Wool Engineering patterns and designs and selling them through her company.

I’m really happy that someone who is passionate about crochet is going to keep the designs going, so the felted bowl will live on 😊.

I’ll provide further info later this week of where you can find Kate and her work. Please wish her the best and thank you Kate for keeping the crochet flag flying!!!

I think it may be time to pass on the Wool Engineering baton!

Business would come with some stock, lots of wool (!), patterns, a functioning ecommmerce website and of course the wonderful business name.

Do let me know if you or anyone you know may be interested. It’s a wonderful product…. But then I am biased. 😊

So, this is it. Time to put my perfectly handmade company to bed. The Civil Engineering day job is just too full on for me to maintain Wool Engineering to the standard I think is good enough.

You have ALL been amazing. That is the people that gave me the push to get going and keep going, the people that have continually commissioned and bought products from me and the wonderful, brilliant people I have been lucky enough to teach. THANK YOU and THANK YOU again, it’s been an amazing journey. I wish you all the HAPPIEST of Christmases and the BEST New Year.

Give you something to think about.

Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card ?

- I have a £50 banknote in my pocket. Going to a restaurant and paying for dinner with it. The restaurant owner then uses the note to pay for the laundry. The laundry owner then uses the note to pay the barber. The barber will then use the note for shopping. After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a £50, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made..

- But if I come to a restaurant and pay for digitally - Card, bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around £1.50 and so will the fee £1.50 for each further payment transaction or owner re laundry or payments of the owner of the laundry shop, or payments of the barber etc..... Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial £50 will remain only £5 and the remaining £45 became the property of the bank thanks to all digital transactions and fees.
👍😉👊

PS: it’s now 4 months since I used my card and I love it. More human interactions, more questions, more conversations about why cash needs to be everyone’s priority. No one needs to know where I shop, how much I spend and what I buy 🤷🏻‍♀️. I am not okay with a digital currency - no way 🚫
