Emily looking stunning in her bespoke steampunk costume for a My Chemical Romance concert. It was great fun working with Emily to achieve the perfect fit, design modifications and detailing after being inspired by a similar costume she’d seen on Instagram.

She says: “I had more compliments on the dress than at my actual wedding and I couldn’t walk more than a minute without people stopping me to say how good it was or asking for photos! Thank you so, so much - it couldn’t have happened without you!”

Bronwyn looking stunning on her wedding day. Her beaded sequinned lace dress was beautiful, but lacked structure to support her figure. As she described it, we “reworked a flimsy corset into a killer undergarment and the dress just looked fantastic.” We also added ruched tulle to the neckline for a little added modesty. A very pleasing result!

It’s been a very busy spring. Here’s some of the things I’ve been working on:
Bespoke waistcoat and dresses commissions, wedding dress alterations and mother of the bride/groom alterations, bridesmaid and prom dress alterations. It’s not slowing down over the summer so if you would like me to help, please book as much in advance as possible.

Here’s a sneak preview of the bespoke wedding waistcoat I made for the lovely Neville and his new wife Zoe.
Neville is a bassoonist and designed the fabric himself, which was printed for the waistcoat by a local Uckfield company, Forest Digital. Official pics to follow…

Sally looking radiant at her son’s wedding.
Her dress, by Veni Infantino from Lady M Occasion Wear in Newick, suited her very well but was too wide in the bodice, and required fairly extensive tailoring to suit her frame without upsetting the balance of the embroidered appliqué.

She says:
“Rachel was recommended by the shop where I bought the dress for my son’s wedding. She was so welcoming and friendly, and did a wonderful job on the alterations. The work was intricate and the result was a dress which fitted perfectly, and you would never know it had been altered. Many thanks, Rachel, for helping to make a most perfect day!”

Yana looking stunning in her wedding day. Yana was also fortunate to find a dress that fitted perfectly apart from the length.
It’s always a privilege to work with brides in the build up to their big day and I always aim to give them a positive experience of the alterations process so that it’s one less thing to worry about!

Some brides, like lovely Franky pictured, are lucky enough to find a dress that fits them perfectly without requiring alterations! We just added a belt and steamed her dress.

She says:
“I just wanted to send a quick message to say thank you so much for all your help with my dress!! It was perfect, and Liam loved it!”
