It's so easy to treat sun protection as a August thing and then pack it away. It isn't. UV in the UK can stay high right through to the end of September, and with the summer we're having, that's very real this year. If baby's out in it, a bit of shade goes a long way.

That's SnoozeShade Plus Extra on the stroller there. Air-permeable, so air keeps flowing through while it keeps the sun (and other elements) off. Exactly how it should look on an ordinary day out.

It's the question we get more than any other, and it can be confusing!

Here's the thing that trips everyone up. It's not about your baby's age. It's about what they travel in.

Lying flat in a carrycot or bassinet? That's SnoozeShade Original. The moment they move into a stroller seat, even as a tiny newborn, even reclined right back, they need SnoozeShade Plus. A flat stroller seat is still a stroller seat, and Plus is the one built to fit it.

Whatever this summer looks like for you: chasing a toddler round the park, hauling the whole show abroad, meeting your new mum mates for a coffee, or just sitting quietly in the garden whenever you get a moment.

It's been a ride, hasn't it. That heatwave hasn't been messing about.

If you've had a baby this year, one thing worth keeping in mind: the NHS says keep little ones under six months out of direct sunlight, and sunscreen isn't recommended for them yet either. So shade is doing the heavy lifting. And UV still comes through cloud, so it's worth a thought even on the grey days.

"What's with the black fabric?" It's one of the questions we get asked most, and the honest answer is that every part of it is doing a job! 🖤

SnoozeShade is made from a double layer of air-permeable EziBreez® mesh, and the dark colour is there for a reason. Dark blocks UV. A pale mesh would let it straight through, so the colour is part of the protection, not just a look.

It blocks up to 99% of UV (UPF 50+) and up to 94% of light. That's pretty strong sun protection! 😎

It's deliberately not pitch black, so a little light still filters in and they can wake naturally.

And no, dark doesn't mean hot. Before launch Cara, who invented SnoozeShade, spoke to one of the UK's leading thermal physicists, who confirmed that with an open mesh like this the colour makes very little difference to heat. Air moves freely straight through, so it can't build up the way it would under a solid cover.

There's no chemical treatment either. All of that protection comes from the mesh itself, not a coating or a spray, which is exactly how we want it near a baby.

Last Tuesday was an exciting one for me as I got to marry my best friend Ed.

We had an amazing day filled with fun and surrounded by friends and family (and a few deer turned up to party with us).

Holly did an impromptu speech which made me cry. Proud mummy moment.

One of my lovely school friends took fab photos and produced this fab montage. Can’t wait to see the rest!

My very talented bonus daughter Grace created a stunning bouquet for me!

All in all it was an amazing day.

PS you might not recognise the song as I created it and wrote the lyrics which tell our story (with quite a few giggles). It is a bit catchy so be warned 😂
