Ross was handing Mark his very first payslip.

Mark was 33 years old.

For 33 years, nobody had given him the opportunity to earn a wage.

Think about that.

At 33, Mark received his very first payslip.

Not because he suddenly became capable.

Because someone finally believed he was.

It’s one of our favourite photos because it captures exactly what Stand Out is all about.

Not sympathy.

Opportunity.

Not labels.

Belief.

Everyone deserves the chance to contribute, earn a wage, and feel the pride that comes with it.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone opening a door.

Did you know…

Within just 18 months of launching Stand Out Socks, we found ourselves creating a product for Manchester United.

For a small social enterprise that believed paid employment should be the norm for people with disabilities, that moment was huge.

It wasn’t just about working with one of the biggest football clubs in the world. It was proof that our products could compete with anyone’s—and that our mission had a place in the mainstream.

That gave us the confidence that we were on the right track… and we’ve never looked back. 🧦❤️

Down syndrome doesn’t define a person.

Neither does any disability…. For that matter.

These lads all happen to have Down syndrome… but that’s where the similarities end.

They have different personalities.
Different strengths.
Different interests.
Different ambitions.
Different senses of humour.

One loves football.
One is obsessed with music.
One never stops talking.
One barely says a word.
One is the first to volunteer.
One likes to take their time.

Just like everyone else.

Too often society puts people with Down syndrome into one box. The reality? There isn’t one.

At Stand Out Socks 🧦, we don’t see labels. We see individuals with talent, potential and something unique to bring to the team.

Because inclusion isn’t about treating everyone the same.

It’s about recognising everyone is different… and giving them the opportunity to stand out.

Ross turned up to work yesterday with a brand new tattoo… 😎

Before anyone asks… yes, people with Down syndrome can get tattoos. Just like anyone else, they can make their own choices.

Apparently it’s the start of an Ozzy Osbourne sleeve…

Although Christian has spent the last 24 hours insisting it looks more like Elton John. 🎹😂

What do you reckon… Ozzy or Elton? 👀👇
