Some stars really do shine so brightly, their light will be remembered forever ✨

Today the world has lost one of its brightest.

I have loved Dolly Parton for as long as I can remember. Her music, her songwriting, her humour, her kindness and, perhaps most of all, the beautiful way she seemed to move through the world with such an enormous heart.

As a songwriter and storyteller myself, she has been a huge inspiration to me. She had that extraordinary ability to take the biggest, messiest, most complicated human feelings and somehow put them into words that felt simple, honest and true. The kind of words that find their way into people’s lives and stay there.

But beyond the songs, I have always admired the person she chose to be. Her generosity. Her warmth. Her determination to lift other people as she climbed. The millions of books she put into the hands of children. The way she could be wonderfully funny and gloriously herself, while never losing sight of kindness.

There are some people whose influence becomes so woven into the world that it is difficult to imagine it without them in it.

Dolly was one of those people.

I’m so very sad that her time here has come to an end, but incredibly grateful that we got to share the world with her at all.

Her songs will be sung for generations. Her words will continue to make people feel understood. Her kindness will live on in countless lives she changed.

And some stars shine so brightly that their light really is remembered forever ✨🌙

Thank you for the music, the words, the laughter and the light, Dolly.
