It's been a while since I have said much about me and Green Man Quilts, so it seems like a good time to drop in and do that!

I'm Sheena. The face, hands and feet behind Green Man Quilts - which is just one way of saying it's all me! Just me! And no one else!

Green Man Quilts has been around since 2013 and I am all about teaching and learning. I am a teacher at heart and soul - Guiding quilters with patience and expertise; empowering them to troubleshoot, experiment, and create with ease.

I treat everyone as an individual with their own interests and dynamics. It is said that I have patience by the bucketload, and I nurture a space in which all feel safe to fail and make mistakes but go on to create something awesome. Because we fail forward to success.

I empower you to troubleshoot, experiment, and create with confidence. From pieced perfection to walking foot wonders, I help turn frustrations into ‘aha!’ moments - bringing clarity, creativity and joy to every quilting journey.

So, now you know who I am and who I help - which bit do YOU most need help with?

I first wrote my talk, Traditional Made Modern, rather a while ago. Last week I thought I would just re-write it - about 4 days before I was due to present it to Horsham Quilters on Friday morning! It started off as "I'll just tweak it a bit" and ended up a complete and total re-write! The great thing about it was that it meant that I got to change quite a few of the quilts that I was showing on Friday.
The talk has always had as its focus something called Modern Traditionalism" and based it within a lot of the history of Modern Quilting. Now it is now called "Modern Quilting & Modern Traditionalism - Honouring the Past, Reimagining the Present" and focuses far more on a practical approach to creating. I was pretty happy with it. I loved all the questions from members of Horsham Quilters. Their Chair did talk about having a group challenge following the talk, so I do hope they will share their results.

February is a very busy month for me with trips up and down the country for talks and workshops in addition to my regular teaching, so I suspect there's not much chance of things calming down, no matter how much I say they will! But how lucky am I to be doing what I love? What's the most "adulty" thing you end up saying to yourself?

If you are already signed up to any of my courses, you should have an account on my e-learning platform. If so, you can access that content via your phone or tablet by downloading the Zenler app - it is really useful as it allows you to access all of your content, not just from my platform, but also from other creators who use Zenler as their e-learning platform.

I made a little word-free video to show you how I got access to it via my tablet. I am an Android girl - if you use Apple products you will look for a different version of the Appstore, but it's pretty much the same.

And also - tell your phone/tablet to talk to your printer, and you can then print direct from it!

So easy!!

What's your favourite wadding for a really warm quilt? I love wool - it's warm and light, and is a beauty to quilt with. I also have some lovely sheepskin slippers, but they are aging somewhat and you know how the insole always wears away to nothing, I've found that popping in fresh sheepskin insoles really rejuvenates them! What are your quilty tips for keeping warm in this weather? And what are you thankful for today?

This is one of my favourite motivational quotes - Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. Basically, just do your best. Get started and don't worry about things - cut into the fabric, colour the pages of your sketchbook. Whatever it takes to just make a start. You can do it x

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for? I can't help feeling that I already have everything I could wish for - good friends, enough to eat and a roof over my head. I don't need more hours in the day, but I do need to be better at making good use of the hours I have. So maybe I should wish for a bit more focus and a bit less procrastination! What would you wish for?

I honestly don't know if this is a "real" day or not - but who cares! Hot Chocolate with marsh mallows - the only thing missing is a swirl of whipped cream. And a chocolate flake wouldn't go amiss!!

Let's face it - if it's a choice between celebrating hot chocolate or paying my tax, I'll celebrate the chocolate every time!
